I think it's an underdog thing. For so many years OpTic was THE #1 team, with absolute titans on the roster like Scump and Crim. I think they received so much love for so long that once other teams started to grow and a more organized and professional scene arose, along with the CDL, fans started cheering for the underdogs as opposed to OpTic.
