Man, Im 37, I saw the "Trashed" tour in 9(4)? I am a lefty guitarist and bassist, I don't usually watch these drum vids, man, you are too sick.... there aren't many drummers willing to stick their necks out on you tube.... bravo... anyone that thinks ill of you is a hater, and I already can tell that you brush them off... studio drum recordings for fast-punk bands like LW and RKL , obviously for the album recording there are TONS of takes, some melded into each other.... you are badass; nuffsaid

I saw that Fat wreck even put your comp of every LP they have released on their news feed! Congrats on that dude. Is there any other footage of your band? I found that high quality live show pretty good man... Next to Frenzal Rhomb (if that's the right spelling) Are you guys the NOFX of the land down under? Put more vids up!

Easily the biggest circle pit I have ever been in... probably all 80 people were in it.. the whole room turned into a pit right when they busted out Island of Shame as the obvious first song of the set... but yes.. 80 people, and the place was packed... those were the good times indeed... And RKL is easily the most underrated band from that era... (and area!)

the intro is good but you lack so much like fills,hi hat demensions and a few pointers listen to the song and see where your mistakes are because mistakes make drummers better. I was a good friend of derrick's and he grew up listening to lots of thrash and glam for instance listen to a song by dokken called see you anymore has same into to island of shame :)/ Just do me a favor before attemoting to ruin a good souls song learn them :)

I remember seeing Lag Wagon fir the Trashed and Hoss tour and on the Hoss tour they opened with this song and it just set the whole night up for a crazy good concert. My brother based pretty much all his drumming style on Derrick because he was so good. We both play drums and he and i both used/use a Tama Iron Cobra with a Slug beater because if Derrick. We got a chance to hang out with him on the Hoss tour and he showed us his technique on how he played so fast and what kind of gear he used.

I got a chance to see a lot of these old Fat and Epitaph bands at their prime.Down By Law, Ten Foot Pole with Scott,Good Riddance, Tilt,Snuff,Rancid,NOFX,Face To Face,No Use For A Name (Daily Grind& Leche Con Carne Tours, also Rory was super cool)Swingin Utters,22 Jacks,Propagandhi(also opened up for them),The Bollweevils(opened up for them also) and a bunch more that I can't remember and then there are a bunch of pop punk bands that my band either opened up for or I just saw live. Those were the day's and the day's of inexpensive everything !

What else do you remember from the kind of gear he used?
@1thess523
@1thess523 7 жыл бұрын
Frank Dinero he used an okd Ludwig i believe a 24 in kick and then power toms like a 13x13. I remember him having Zildjian K hi hats if I'm not mistaken and other K cymbals. He told us he was a jazz guy and listened to a lot of jazz music and for us it was weird because we kept asking "hey do you listen to these bands he was like" no i listen to a lot of jazz". Back then my brain couldn't comprehend it but with in the last 10 yrs I've seen a lot of jazz drumming videos and it all makes sense now because those old men are just as technical if not more than Derrick was. Oh yeah he wore blue Authentic Vans!

@RandomlyDrumming
@RandomlyDrumming 11 жыл бұрын
With all due respect, I think you're splitting hairs here. Yes, Kye maybe missed a few inflections on the hi-hat (maybe even on purpose), but overall the cover is great. The point of doing a cover is not to play note for note, but rather to stick with the "essence" while adding something new. Otherwise, why do a cover if you're going to play it EXACTLY the same and if there's nothing new to see/hear? In that case you might as well just listen to the original - studio version. :)
@RandomlyDrumming
@RandomlyDrumming 12 жыл бұрын
Well, you do have a point there, but... :) The thing is, I just said he LOOKS that way, never said he actually is tense. He played "Rifle" almost perfectly and he is an excellent drummer, but he looks like he's nervous or something in almost all his videos. Again, I'm not saying he is, just that he looks that way. :) Cheers!
