During the comunism(or precisely the socialism) we had - free hospital cares, free treatment, free supplies, free education even paid ,Guaranteed immediatelly start working with your occupation after the graduation. Very cheap fuel, Everything have been very very cheap. The progress in the country has been very fast for short time. The people have leaved their car and homes unlocked because there wasn't someone to stole something ! There wasn't poor people,There was job for everyone,no murders,no drog dealers,no loans,no rapists. The police was very powerful and the people-protected, Every one could buy very easy flat or house, and brand new car after few years waiting,We had BDS(bulgarian state standart)for food, clothes, quality for everything and nobody had been possible to avoid it.We have had powerful military army(which now is destroyed) Our industry was very powerful and we have produced-steel,consumer electronics, guns, machines, cars, very expensive military electronics and so on.We have produced a lot of rose oil(which is more expensive than the gold) We have had nuclear energy last time ago.The people then was thinking that if the democracy come we will live much better than now.Now theese same people are very sad and they say to the younger people "we didn't know that we will live very bad,if the comunism fall down.We were cheated". Buzludzha is simbol how one country easily can fall from the top to the bottom without war. Shame...

+Stoqn Kolev Did you really like that guy in the mosaic who was the leader of your nation and people back then when this all took place, or how old were you then if it is ok to ask ? I have not lived there so I would not know first-hand how it was, but one thing is for sure. Nothing, nothing in this world is "free", and there are no "free" meals either. You always pay with something, and it is a very dangerous idea to start experimenting with the lives of others. Or to build something at the expense of a population that is in a position that does not allow them to have any say in their own affairs. As I see it the whole communist utopia failed because of a economy that was based on nothing but hollow ideas. Which led to it being forcibly implemented anyways as you already know. Maybe there some day will be a better tomorrow , but I am sure it wont be as a result of totalitarianism, walls, or any flag-waving. Maybe this tragedy with communism was somehow bound to happen as a historical mistep, or a "leap of faith". A leap that went horribly wrong. Politics aside, I like the the futuristic look ot the monument. A really cool building, and it is sad to see it in such a bad condition, no matter what it might represent. By the way, I hope to visit it some day.

I've enjoyed the whole video, with a small exception for the last few seconds. Was it necessary to do it?

Sorry you're so far off the mark. Bulgarians were hand in glove with the USSR, to the point where it was known as the Sixteenth state. Never officially part of the Soviet Union but were the closest of all the Commy run countries in their relationship with The Kremlin. Majority of Bulgarians were not happy at the fall of Communisum, where Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary activly encouraged it. Russia pulled them out more times than you can remember post and pre WW2
