Lahav Harkov - The Current Political Developments in Israel

Last weekend, tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets to protest the new government's plans to overhaul the judicial system and weaken the power of the Supreme Court. A move that critics say will destroy the country's democratic system. The same Supreme Court ruled last week that the appointment of Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, also founder of the Orthodox coalition party Shas, is invalid. This decision could potentially cause a political crisis.
In light of all these political developments, CIDI organized a seminar wherein the latest state of affairs and the possible scenarios are discussed with Israeli journalist Lahav Harkov. Lahav will give a update on the past few weeks, the planned reforms and the current sentiment among the Israeli population.
