Wah kya baatt Hai! Thanks for remembering brave Bhagat Singhji . It would be great if Pakistan Govt recognises Punjabi and script Gurmukhi as one of the National languages of Pakistan. If Singapore can recognise Tamil as one of the National Languages why can't we recognise our shared common languages? I once happened to transit through Dubai Airport and was pleasantly surprised to notice that most of the Pakistani passengers there were talking amongst themselves in Punjabi.Actually you won't see as many people speaking in Punjabi at Delhi Airport. On enquiring one co passenger told me that Punjabi is not taught in schools etc in Pakistan . But those who learn to read gurmukhi ,they do so privately at home. He also told me that as lot of Punjabi Pakistanis still speak Punjabi but majority cannot read it. It was shocking to know that even in today '9s times our Govts can be so narrow minded. These days we get to see lot of bloggers from Pakistan.It warms our hearts to hear so many different dialects of spoken Punjabi in Pakistan.So much so that our children love to use Urdu words also now in Thier daily life. When we were small we could hear these dialects amongst people who had migrated from Pakistan. Also we come across these dialects in Guru Granth Sahib as well. Of course not to forget the folk songs,classical music ,sindhi bhairavis etc....long list.Most of the first generation stalwarts of Indian directors,actors,singers,musicians had thier origins in present day Pakistan. Urdu is one of the finest language in our countries.The best poetry has been said in Urdu . We must share ,enjoy and preserve our rich cultural legacy on both sides of the borders. Life is short but there is lots to share . Dill khholl kke rakkho!
