This is the BEST video for LAHORI Nihari. I watch it before I make Nihari in UK. The explanation is easy. Every time I make this Nihari with Lamb, My family thinks I am a good cook. The process has been made very simple by you. So Thank you. PS. I don’t use Sounf, Haldi, brown sugar and CHOTI Elachi because I don’t like them. ( personal choice). Took 3 + 1 , after atta. hours to cook.

Nihari. The word “Nihar” originated from the Arabic word, “Nahar” which means “morning”. It was originally eaten by Nawabs in the Mughal Empire as a breakfast item after their morning prayers. Nihari was developed in Old Delhi, India, during the reign of the Mughal Empire. Whatsoever the recipe is awesome & very nice demonstration. please keep it up .

Dr I beg to differ, originally Nihari was not for Nawab's or Mughal Kings. Nihari was develop to feed the peasants, who use to do hard labor for the whole day. Later on it became a delicacy of Nawab's. Second 25 years ago not too many people even knew what Nihari is, it was considered a " Bazari Food" . Nihari was never cooked in house.

1 mace 1/2 nutmeg 4 cloves 2 black cardamom 4 green cardamom 1 star anise 1 tsp black pepper, or to taste 1 tsp coriander seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp fennel

great recipe but you can not just steel the history. There is no such thing Lahori Nihari. I am from Lahore and I can tell you with proud that Nihari is originated in Delhi and we in Lahore cook great DELHI Nihari.

No Brother Lahore bhi hamara hai aur Delhi bhi hamari hai but having said that Lahore bhi app ka hai aur Delhi bhi app ka hai. Border is nothing but just an administrative control. The whole sub continent belongs to people of this land. there will be a time when people understand this. Atleast I am teaching this to my kids and doing my minimum part. I wish people on both side of this administrative line understand and value our heritage and own and feel proud of that regardless of which side of line .

Its little different recipee than our Indian Nahari which we see in Lucknow and Delhi. Lucknowi Nahari is more delicate while Delhi's Nahari is more towards spicy side. Both are good but I am not sure how your Lahori Nahari tastes? Will try to make. Thanks for posting it here

Salaam sister. I just made this exactly as shown in the video, but it tastes like just atta. Before I added the atta, I tasted the mixture and it was delicious, but after adding the atta, it just tastes like atta :( What can I do to fix this? Please help me. Thank You.

You only have to add a small amount, enough atta to thicken the nihari and you may have added too much and you have to keep stirring the nihari, try adding more water and cooking it more okay.

Thanks! I added more water and cooked it for about 1 more hour and it tastes better. Next time I will add less atta though, because the taste without it was so amazing. Thanks again for the recipe and the help :)

gzaihda Good cooking takes practice, don't be disheartened if yours wasn't good. Keep trying. Also you can add Shan Nihari masala to our recipe and it'll taste even better. gzaihda greatly depends on the type of Atta that is used, make sure to use a little coarse flour and not very fine one.

Nihari may toh taste haddion or nalion ka ek khaas flavor hota hay Nihari mein. Agar beef ki binani hay toh usko 6 to 7 hour pikaein or namak mirch teez rakein. Bishak Shan Nihari masala b daldein for extra nihari flavor. Lamb and goat meat haddion wala best hota hay. Good luck :) Allah karay apki Nihari tasty banay :)

Thank you for giving such a nice demonstration to make Nihari. I like cooking so I am going to giveit a try. However, there is one suggestion, the tarka piaaz was too white in color and not brown, as flavor of tarka comes when the piaaz is light brown. Best wishes. 5Stars Award.
