those 12 hour shifts are no joke. i did that at amazon a few years ago. you think you're gonna get fit, but the repetitive movements are terrible for you. you think you can put on some headphones and listen to a podcast, but you have to read labels so fast you can't even hear your own thoughts. by far the worst job I've ever had. respect for doing it man

I loathe 12 hr shifts, but that's almost all you can find around here where I live, at least as far as factories go. I would rather work 4 10s or 5 8s, just anything except 12s. It's like he said in the vid, once you get to that 9-10 hr mark the rest of the shift just drags by soooo slowly. I hate that 12s are becoming so commonplace and I pray that my workplace never follows this trend.

He needs to create a new channel IMO. When your channel declines over years the algorithm basically ignores your channel and you just consistently go downhill. The only person I've see recover from this is RWJ and that's only because he started doing the KZbin Shorts TikTok thing. Otherwise, everyone declines, without failure, and it drives them insane because no matter what they try, they decline. If you create a new channel you get recommended out allot more, so as long as you're doing content people want to see, you can grow again.

You might want to consider transferring into the “Stow” department. I’ve done both I was a picker for 3 months and I’ve now done stowing. Stowing is sooo much easier physically and you won’t have that lower back pain, due to the fact that you are putting items wherever you want to that there is an open space..and I always prioritize the upper parts of the pod so that I don’t have to bend low. It is seriously a night and day difference, ask hr about it because I think after 30 days you are good to transfer. After doing stow I feel like I’ll never want to pick again. It’s simply taking items that are already brought to you, scanning the item once, then putting it wherever you want that there’s an open space and somehow they know where you put it. Like you don’t have to scan where you placed the item!!

That back pain thing felt very relatable. I was one of those guys who didn't care about posture at all until one day, boom: Lower back pain. It sounds super obvious, but simply watching your posture when standing, sitting, basically anywhere, really helps a lot. At the first few days, I felt like a robot standing oddly straight the whole time, but the body adapts surprisingly fast, and now it feels normal and the back pain has been gone. I can really recommend it.

My mum is almost 55 and has been picking for like 15 years. She's such a trooper. My sister and her BF are also pickers and it would be a great summer job IMO, they pay really well... My mum is getting paid the same ammount as people who go to university for 3-5 years do. If i were you Andrew I would do Amazon part-time and study something that you're somewhat interested in. Push yourself, is there something you thought you'd never be able to do? Something you would LIKE to do but never thought you were smart enough? Engineer? Doctor? Surgeon? Developer? Programmer? Working for NASA? Teacher? I never thought i would ever go to uni and now i'm studying psychology and going for a masters. Reach for the stars. KZbin careers will have you selling your soul, associating self-worth on view counts, emotionally tied to them. Wouldn't it be nice to have a great, deeply fulfilling life, disconnected from this... vaccume.

I worked part-time in a UPS hub for about 6 yrs, unloading/loading/bulk sweep/picking/sorting... It definitely gave me a lot of back issues but I feel that has been basically remedied by going to a massage therapist. You'll want to make sure you don't get too lazy with the posture while you're working, it's easy to get tired and start bending the back too much instead of bending at the knees, especially the taller you are. If you're going to stay there maybe go ahead and get a massage therapist lined up on a regular basis just to keep the inflammation from building up from the extra muscle strain you'll be getting. All the best to you man and good luck!

I worked for Amazon as a delivery driver since the beginning of Covid and recently decided I needed to do something different. It’s not bad exactly , but definitely a form of slavery. As an experienced driver I believe that the their drivers need more pay. They work you with 226 stops/260 packages per day and eventually lemme tell you it takes a toll; Especially if you are a social person. It’s an easy job but , not fun being an Amazon slave and not getting the pay you deserve.
