This song hits hard, because while most can relate, I can’t. While I grew up in the country with plenty of dirt roads, I was raised in a sheltered environment and culture that never allowed for these type of experiences. Now, in my 40s I’m haunted by the experiences I feel like I missed out on as a teen and young adult, that are lost forever. But…. I have a family, good career and I’m married to my best friend for almost 20 years, so if I could go back and do it again, I can’t imagine I’d change a thing. Still, it’s all so bittersweet when I hear a song like this.

We are now back together again after his wife passed away and I divorced both after 50 years. We never forgot how we fell for each other and how in love we were. I must admit, up until now, my musical interests were mostly rooted in 80's and 90's music, and I hadn't been paying much attention to new country releases. However, that all changed after attending the CMA FEST and experiencing Jelly Roll's performance. It opened my eyes to the potential of this new country genre. For quite some time, I felt that country songs and artists were stuck in a repetitive cycle, producing music that lacked uniqueness. Yet, tonight's performance and a few other recent songs have ignited a newfound appreciation within me. I'm genuinely impressed, so much so that I'm already curating a KZbin playlist dedicated to this fresh wave of country music. On a delightful note, I also stumbled upon a remarkable woman during my musical exploration. Though I'm not familiar with her identity, her voice is reminiscent of a young Dolly Parton, minus the signature wings, of course! 😂 This resemblance to the legendary Dolly has me captivated, and I can't wait to learn more about her and her music. ❤ it's the real good song! I first heard it on an episode of yellowstone. Which Lainey played an excellent role in. And actually played that role in a couple different episodes if I'm not mistaken. This is your Best in my opinion. I didnt know who you were before I saw you and heard you sing this one on Yellowstone. Must say it brings to mind my first experience with moonshine. Yeah, Rick Beato just reacted a Top 10 country list… and this is the only one that caught my attention. I used to listen to country back in the 80s and 90s… but really haven’t much since then (except for all my old music). I did stumble on Sierra Hull though and really like her (bluegrass mandolin phenom). I also stumbled on a country rock band called Blackberry Smoke that you can rock to. But the pop/rock radio-type of country these days all sounds the same to me and bores me.
