My red CX219's arrived today. Have not mounted cleats to them yet, but my initial impressions. Good looking shoe, not as good looking as the 238, but nicer than the pictures indicate. I miss the second Boa dial. But a few issues with the fit. These are built on the same last as the 238, but seem to be a bit snugger fit, and not as slipper like comfy. To the naked eye, they seem the same size as the 238, so not sure what it might be. It could be due to the Clarino instead of real leather, and also, due to the one Boa dial, the foot opening, and the tongue opening is a bit narrower than on the 238. The tongue material seems a bit thicker/spongier. They're also brand new, and not ridden in any, so maybe it's just that. The laces tend to get hung up on the edges of the Carbotex patches, so you need to do a little adjusting and smoothing the path they take before tightening down. At any rate, there's plenty of toe wiggle room, they don't seem to crush in on the sides of my forefoot, they're just snug. That snugness also means the ankle is gripped snugly though, as well. All in all, I'm keeping them, as they're just gonna be a backup pair, only ridden once in a while, but they're red!!!! If Lake ever comes out with a red 238, I'll upgrade then. Happily ride these until then.

On the bike, they feel just like the 238. Wiggling my toes, feeling that toe spread from the metatarsal :D . Think they're quite a bit lighter though, the single Boa and the fake leather. My pair size 43.5 came in just shy of 500 grams without cleats. Still a bit of a bear getting on and off, due to the narrower foot opening. And the thicker tongue tends to bunch down toward the toes while you're pulling them on. But once you get that sorted, it's all good.

Also, the hard plastic Boa lace guides have been replaced by nylon loops on the 219. And the Carbotex(whatever that is, carbon infused material?) inserts where the laces cross on the tongue, to help prevent the lace from wearing and digging in to the tongue material. Got a pair of the red CX219 on the way.

@@leimingtu7160 Not really on the bike. They both use the same last, and same carbon sole, so in that department, they feel almost exactly the same. What I have found, is the Clarino fake leather used on the 219, and the pair of MX 238 gravel shoes made with Clarino that I just bought seem to confirm, doesn't feel as slipper-like comfortable as the real leather used on the 238 road and MTB shoes. It just feels a little bit stiffer and less foot conforming, a bit less supple. Which may go away with break-in, both pairs I have made of Clarino are still very new, and not ridden much. At the same time, that extra rigidity and support of the foot may turn out to be a good thing. Also, may not run into issues shrinking and toughening up if they get wet, as a mountain shoe will undoubtedly do. Also, the 219 with the single Boa is a bit harder to get off and on. That one Boa has to take up a lot more wire than the two Boa 238, so the opening for the foot, and the separation of the shoe around the tongue area is a bit more narrow. You can't open it up as wide to stuff your foot into when putting it on. But as I said, once on the bike and pedaling, they feel very much the same. You missed out though. For Memorial Day weekend, Competitive Cyclist had 20% off Lake shoes. With that, and an Active Junky code, if available, you could have got a pair of 238s for not much more than the 219 regular retail price.
