While there could be some complaints about the lake, when we lived there for 4 years (2015-2019) that lake saved alot of homes that might of been burnt to the ground. Hopefully they are harvesting the water to the soil. The ground has been dry, impermeable and lifeless wherever it is bare. Water takes time to infiltrate sun-baked soil. Shunting it off to the sea is a mistake, they need frequently placed, biologically active swales and raingardens to appropriately absorb water to the topsoil.
