Thank you for documenting these trains on the Canadian Pacific line to Milwaukee and beyond at Lake Forest, Illinois on 23 April 2021, Andrew. I noticed that Metra cab car with the Scottsdale, Arizona advertising wrap came through Lake Forest about three times. That F59PH on the "highlight of the Day" was nice. Quick question. Why if train has long string of tank cars there is a covered hopper between them and engine? I noticed this in the past few years. What is the logic?

Usually there’s a covered hopper or a much bigger/bulkier freight car in the train as a “buffer” or protection for the tank cars in case of an accident especially if they happen to be loaded. Hope this helps. -Andrew Mangalindan

No, those tracks seen in this video are owned by Canadian Pacific. The Norfolk Southern locomotive(s) recorded on this day happened to be the power for one of the CP freight trains. Hope this answers your question. -Andrew Mangalindan
