My buddy caught a 8.5 lb bowfin close to the opening of the main lake to the right next to the rocks. 4lb test line crappie rod with a bream size hook. I love fishing the hatchery good stuff!!

I’ve lived on this lake for 8 years now. I’ve never seen anyone catch a bowfin on a rod and reel. In person or online. I knew we had them here they’re just normally mistaken for catfish and gigged. The only one I’ve ever caught was while I was gigging.
