They were so calm back then when setting the hook and bringing the fish to the boat. Now a days they step back 10 yards and jackhammer the fish while holding there breath and screaming

Mono lines are a lot more flexible these days; however, I will admit that you are right, a gentle hook set is all that is needed.

seriously bro, EVERY BASS IVE CAUGHT THIS SUMMER WAS CAUGHT WITHOUT EVEN SETTING THE HOOK LOL, SIMPLY JUST TIGHTEN THE LINE AND REEL IN LOL, ANDREW FLAIR-ESPECIALLY LUNKERSTV SET THE HOOK SOOO FUCKING HARD FOR NO REASON, I BE WANTING TO PUNCH THE HELLLL OUTTA THEM LOL
