I live an hour north of Shasta Lake, we've had an impressive amount of precipitation up here, and Shasta and Oroville are both releasing water, so it's going to be an interesting year. Good luck at Oroville (I didn't peek).

Coffee time with GB 😊 Thanks for braving the elements to bring us another day on Shasta. I've fished in the rain, but the pain of not feeling your hands when the fish don't cooperate becomes frustrating. Sorry to see the equipment mishap when you returned to the ramp. We had a similar incident at Berryessa when a bunch of inexperienced boaters jammed up the ramp. We have a Hamby's on the bow and intended to beach the Ranger in order to get our trailer. I had a brunette moment and didn't realize the Minnkota was still down - yikes! Have fun on Oroville and good luck! 👍🎣👍

So I’ve fished Northern California lakes since the late 70’s and here’s bar none the best way to catch them in Feb,Mar and April rain. Rig a white spinnerbait with at least one blade of the two a thumper blade that vibrates, put a 3 or 4 inch trailer bait on and slow roll it deep! The Bass (all 3 Species) will light it up. I only share this info because I left California for greener pastures 😎😎😄

What a trooper! You know there are easier ways to wash you Yak and gear.😂 To answer your question of If 2 fish are worth it. YES, no skunk in the toughest conditions is nothing to shake a stick at. Gorgeous, perfect day. For Rainbows. Rainbows often go airborn, and taste oh so good. Perhaps give it a go when environment enables. Rainbows, are legendary sport fish for good reason. The last minnowish 10" trout I hooked, a GDNR planted fish in the Chattahoochee, took to the air 6 times. It was crazy fun for such an itty bitty thing. Hook into 16"or more, and you'll be grinning from ear to ear. Hook into a Steelhead, and all your lines from your plethora of reels, might snap. But the memory will be forever etched into your consciousness. ✌️ 👍😎👍
