Pop some popcorn for my longest video yet. I had a great experience traveling to Detroit, MI for my first of 3 Bassmaster Opens in 2024. The final result wasn't quite what I hoped, but the experience points I gained were invaluable. I learned a lot and became a much better "scoper." Love or hate it, this is where the game is now and if I'm going to compete at this level in the future I need to be highly confident in using it to locate and catch fish. Listen in to hear how I felt about my practice, the strategies I used to break down a massive lake and look for fish on massive nearly featureless grass flats. It's an intimidating task but if you use some of the strategies I discuss in the video, you too may be able to find 37-1/2 lbs of smallmouth for two days for an 86th place finish out of 221 anglers. Looking at the leaderboard though, I can't say it was a bad finish. This was truly the who's who tournament, outside of a professional event, for some of the world's finest smallmouth bass anglers. Looking forward to the next one at Leach Lake!
