I was just in the lakes for the very first time this weekend. A stunning and magical place that needs to be preserved for generations in the future. I didn't notice anything with the lakes that was especially concerning, but on some of the walking trails, a tree disease is running rampant and there are lots of dead and felled trees everywhere. It just feels like there just isn't any concern for anywhere in this country anymore. I know that isn't true because the comments show how many people care but we need to turn care into action and change somehow.

This is all very anthropocentric. It's really only since the rise in wild swimming that there has been mass anger about water pollution which has been increasing for decades. Wild mammals have no other place to drink. Fish don't have a choice. Lakes, rivers, and oceans are more than just recreational facilities.

Just read the yearly accounts for Westminster - (not including repairs to the buildings and renovation which has been quoted at 22 billion for nobody knows why) this year the adminsitration of our central government office cost around 400 million. The initial resource Estimate of £374.9 million in May plus an additional 20 million. That just the cost of electricity wages expenses office paper and heating cars security subsidised gym creche bars travel - you have to ask what do they do for the money ?.... not unreasonable to ask, its our money ...

Notice how nobody is discussing all of the contributors to the pollution in greater detail. Farmers contribution for instance and the fact we have an overpopulation problem. A very biased viewpoint.
@JohntyNich8 ай бұрын
In relation to farmers, this is due to the lakes catchment area which is off the mountains that are organically grown. It is one of the few areas that the water companies can’t deflect onto farmers and the pollution can be directly contributed to the water company 🤷♂️ The population in the area is mainly tourists and tourist attractions as the locals can’t afford to live their and yes this is overloading the sewage systems which is why they are complaining. The water companies would rather discharge untreated sewage than upgrade their systems.

Genuine question .... When people go out in their boats and go for a kak on said boats, does the toilet flush the waste straight into the lake? 🤔
@DoctorBastard9 ай бұрын
Nope, they've got waste tanks.
@ThePlayerOfGames9 ай бұрын
The toilets of all the towns around the lake are effectively flushing straight into the lake because the sewerage companies are no longer monitored (the UK government got rid of that regulation with Brexit) and water quality isn't monitored (yep, they changed the water regulation so that it does nothing). Combine that with Thatcherite privatisation of the water/sewerage companies, and the company just dumps the raw sewerage it takes in straight out into the lake.
