Well done. My tips having completed it twice... 1) Eat Properly - Take a few minutes at every checkpoint to eat some "Proper" food, i.e. Sandwhiches, Cake. 2) Do the first 50k as if you feel like your going too slow. 3) Look after your Feet - Take clean/dry socks to change into, have more dry/clean socks in your drop bag. Take tape, blister pasters and have some moleskin plasters in your drop bag. Also, put a pair of shoes in the dropbag in case your original ones are sodden. 4) Look after your feet.... 5) Look after your feet.... 6) Look after your feet.... You get the jist!

Yo dude....great video. I'm in Canada but checking out Lakeland 100 vids. What a cool event. I really enjoyed your honesty with yourself and the event. Definitely learning from your experience is priceless. These pursuits grab us I think because we're always walking/running on the edge of success/failure. It's a good way to be!

I am so sorry, Andrew, that you fell and broke your pole. You did well, 49 miles is still a massive distance. You can have a go at it next year if you want. Everything happens for the reason. You've learnt a few lessons yourself but sometimes even if you are super prepared things might happen. By the way, socks for every 20 miles is a good idea and learning to use the poles more too.

I recognise that Fox t-shirt! Great achievement getting as far as you did and wish I was there so that we could pace each other through the difficult sections. My suggestion for keeping fuelled is to use concentrated Tailwind 60g/500mL which is vegan. I did that for the Chester 100 and I find it easy on my stomach too. I needed little solid food to top up during runs. Will try and enter this race next year as it does look fantastic.
@runstretchsucceed Жыл бұрын
Yes I was useing tail wind as this seem to work most my races tbh I think need more solid food and tbh i shouls took more my self x

Congratulations on a tough 49 miles- though it wasn't the A goal, it's still a crazy impressive accomplishment, especially in those conditions. I love the idea of new socks every 20 miles. The fact that they'd call you if you went way off course is awesome!! Next year hopefully they'll have more vegan options, too. I completely understand your concern about getting hurt and not being able to work. You made the decision you thought was best at the time. That's all we can do!

All I can suggest Andrew is find some hills and train on them if you intend to do this again next year. Get used to feeling rubbish and your legs wanting to give in. You’ll get through it. They also tell you the last 50 miles is easier. All I can say is 50 miles is never easy, especially when you’ve done 55. There may be a little less ascent in the second half but you’re so tired at that point. That’s something you know though as you’ve done a few races through the night now so know how that feels. Going through a second night is really difficult. You just can’t prepare for that. Anyway, as I said, great effort and hope to see you there again next year 👍

Another brilliant Vlog Andrew and what an emotional journey you went on a tough race made even tougher by terrible weather 49 miles in challenging conditions is really impressive well done 👏👏👏 my bit of advice would be change to Aluminium poles as they are much stronger and can take a lot more punishment 👍

Well done for getting out there Andrew and taking on such a tough race. It looked stunning but also hard going! Hope the recovery is going well and all the best with the next one
