Diana Burket! Hi, Me and my husband are very happy LAKEMONT PARK is still running. And we are from Altoona.l used to go to lakemont Park in the 70's

It has changed a lot from when I was a kid. It seems more like when I was a kid. Somewhere families can go and have a days fun. They added a lot to the water park it was just a pool. Altoona has more to do than 2 parks such as the Railroaders museum and Horseshoe curve.

I think there was a Tour de Toona bike race but it was discontinued years ago. I also saw a candy factory outlet store that might be worth visiting. I was going to bring my kids out for a day to ride the 2 coasters at least, go to the candy store and take a look at horseshoe curve but the web site says the Skyliner is still down so I'll hold off until it's back in service.

Shame that Skyliner is closed for the year. It is definately underrated. Being that I've recommended this place as an alternative to Conneaut Lake I hope Skyliner doesn't see Blue Streak's fate. That said Lakemont is absolutely in better hands so I'm not too worried. Glad you got to ride Leap The Dips. I immagine some of the support beams which go into the footers are original knowing that after it was worked on by a carpenter in the 90s when after 15 years sitting abandoned, it retained about 85% of the wood that was on the structure (I'm assuming that estimate doesn't include track or bents). Also because that wood doesn't need to bend they tend to use wood which will last for the supports goinginto the ground. Other than that, did you try the paddle boats? They're on the wristband and easily the best paddle boats at an amusement park, given the size of the lake and the cool trees growing next to the water.

Went today and Skyliner was open, had some good airtime and laterals but the bottom of the first drop was pretty rough. Sadly, Leap the Dips was closed for maintenance.

they people that own this park are juuish. They refuse to put any money into it. They just want to exploit it for the lights on the lake money. Have you ever seen how long the line of cars are for lights on the lake? They must be making a killing!
