He just won back to back titles this is all to get a well deserved hefty raise to return to UConn. Bro lebron has not been happy with his coaches since Miami. There is not one coach that has been with lebron who’s job was not questioned or in jeopardy, and at least 3 who lebron personally asked to be gone(cryptic or not). Lebron didn’t even like Ty Lue, who is now considered a top 5 coach in the league. I’m a lebron fan, but lebron has to own up to the fact he is the odd man out. His style of play is not coachable, he can’t hit spot up shots, his defensive energy isn’t there till the playoffs, and Austin reeves and d Angelo Russell play ten times better when he isn’t on the floor.

Dan Hurley was the head coach at my old high school, St. Benedict's Prep, in Newark New Jersey. He was the head coach when Jr. Smith transferred to my old high school back in 2005. He's a really tough coach, but he taught he players valuable lessons, and some of the players he coached went on to become great NBA players. He's a very solid prospect for the lakers.

I think Dan Hurley is going to get a reality check in the NBA. A college coach rules with an iron fist, but in the NBA it is the players who rule. There is no scholarship to remove from an NBA player, and the contracts are guaranteed, so if a player is cut, he is still going to get paid.

Skip, you make great points. However, your comment about Jimmy Johnson’s success was historically accurate. But what made the Dallas Cowboys great was the Hershel Walker trade. The Minnesota Vikings gave Dallas multiple 1st, 2nd and additional draft picks that Dallas used to draft and build their roster under the Jimmy Johnson era. This at a time when free agency was a challenge for teams to retain talent.

The Lakers is a dream job. That's like saying no one wants to coach the Cowboys, Yankees, or the Patriots. I think the Lakers don't really want another 1st time coach. We want somebody that already knows how to coach. The Lakers will have talent, maybe even a 3rd star. We need strategy, a system, proper line-ups and time-out calling. We need a game manager and Hurley checks those boxes. Give the Lakers 2 7-ft centers, move AD to PF, and Bron to SF and we can rock with the best of them.
