Rui is capable of stepping into that 3rd scorer role on the days that Austin doesn’t have it. If you trade him for a journeyman 3 and D type you are losing a lot of scoring creativity. For me a Rui trade would have to bring back some of that scoring punch along with a better positional fit to make sense. Until then the lakers should be able to utilize Rui’s skill set and defense by staggering his and LeBrons minutes.

Then it should be Rui, Gabe, Cam & Hayes for Jerami Grant & RWIII. Jerami Grant is about as potent as a scorer as Rui (17ppg ish) but not as versatile a scorer, though he can get to the basket & make 3pt shots. Grant, like Rui, is also a subpar rebounder for his size but the difference being Grant can defend 3-5 at a high level. RWIII would be the perfect backup C when Wood gets back. If Vando & Wood come back healthy, I'd slide Reaves to the 6th man & go with Bron K4 DFS AD Wood, Reaves Max Vando Grant RWIII etc etc. That's a great 19 man rotation until playoffs, where Max likely gets cut from rotation.

Rui Hachimura is basically a poor man's Carmelo Anthony. Almost the same skill set but to a lesser potency, aside from 3pt shooting. Great 3 level scorer, solid post defender but feet are too slow to defend the perimeter consistently at a passable level

That’s a 3nd in ochai and Bruce brown on guards and Nick richards. Not giving up any real 1sts. Filling all the glaring holes needed.
