A recent rumor suggests there is a suitor out there that would like to poach D'Angelo Russell from the Lakers in free agency, plus it seems like LA's interest in JJ Redick is only getting stronger. Is he on the verge of being named as the club's next head coach?

I can see D'Angelo Russell not letting the Lakers benefit off his exit. It was D'Angelo who shot 4 for 8 at 3-pointers in Game 4 to give the Lakers their own Playoff win against Denver while Austin Reaves shot 1 for 6 at 3-pointers in Game 4. D'Angelo also shot 7 for 11 at 3-pointers in Game 2 Playoff loss while Reaves shot 1 for 5 at 3-pointers in Game 2.

Pat Riley is a top 5 coach of all time. I'm pretty sure JJ won't be anywhere near close as a coach, and it might not be even completely his fault. Today's player culture has far less accountability for superstars. It's always change the coach or the supporting players. Magic and Kareem were a lot more coachable than today's players. When Lebron complained in Miami, Riley had Spoelstra's back. Lebron left. Magic and Kareem were built differently. They didn't make cryptic social media posts about how they should be valued or respected more by their teams. It's just different now.

Rob Pelinka needs to go. We went from having the deepest team in the league to having a depleted roster with limited draft picks & if we lose D-Lo without being able to replace his 18million in cap space it will be devastating. It would cost us the rest of our minimal depth to even make a trade for a decent player. Then whats left at that point. We squandered Kuzma, KCP, Caruso, Schroder, Trez, a few first. Taking Shafino instead of trading back to get more assets. When does it stop...

@@cooper2132 to win a title with 2 big athletic centers & then swap them out for 6'7 Trez to spite the Clippers, & a beyond his prime, flat footed Marc Gasol is why we didn't repeat. That & AD getting Hurt in the Phoenix series which was out of everyone's control. Then nixing both the Kuzma & Trez for Derozan or Buddy Hield deals which would have allowed us to keep KCP & the 22cd pick only to trade all of our depth along with the pick for Westbrook. Not to mention not retaining Caruso when we had the $ to do so in order to give THT a boated deal when he didn't contribute to our teams success because he had a few decent games then turn around & trade him the following year for Pat Bev, on the same team with Westbrook 🤦🏻‍♂️then instead of retaining Bamba & Beasley if only to have their contracts as tradable pieces we just let them walk for nothing & we can't replace the 29 million in cap space that those decisions cost us. It's just 1 questionable move after another. The 2020 roster happened because of Leonard closing the Flippers, not good GM skills or we would be stuck in a bad deal with a always hurt Leonard instead of any roster depth.

I hope we keep DLo. 28 year old PG in his prime. We're going to be stuck begging for a guard once again if we let him (or he chooses) to go. I read a couple weeks ago, DLo opting out and re-signing prevents a sign-and-trade which would be optimal for him really. He stays in LAL, where he is generally well received and familiar with everything and Lakers can't get Trae Young but oh well. Don't want him anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if DLO left to Orlando because it's a situation to start over with a young team that they can grow together. The Lakers right now are creating an unhealthy environment for younger players to develop and most free agents that sign with the Lakers seem to under perform or get injured too much. The Lakers need to stop dragging their feet and have some sort of plan and direction for building a team because everyone with a player option seems very questionable. If the Lakers decide to trade Christian Wood maybe on draft night before the other players with player options sign, they will more than likely opt out. The Lakers are showing a lot of dysfunction right now with the constant turnover of players and coaches every season. It's not a good look for any free agents because they see the Lakers as an unstable team that is not a destination for players to other than Lebron and AD to have any longevity there, especially if they have a current history of trading away anyone other than Lebron and AD.

Big mistake if the lakers let Dlo walk, one thing lakers have lacked of the years is 3pt shooting, Dlo was one of the best shooters lakers had statically in years & was the player that got hot in the 2nd half of the season to make the lakers move & we was one of the better teams in the league since the all star break. Not trying to bash DLo or anything because we can’t blame everything on him and he helped us with his tremendous shooting… but we need a pg with high iq, good defensive qualities, good ball handling, and consistency. DLo was often erratic in his performances. I don’t think DLo or Austin Reaves are reliable first option playmakers. AR has the ability to get to the line and draw fouls, but DLo is a liability if he is not hitting jumpers. AR has higher upside even though he is a defensive liability as well. But we cannot have two starting guards that cannot defend the perimeter. I say get a defensive guard who is also a good ball handler that can make winning plays like Mike Conley. Mike Conley and AR would be a better balancing backcourt duo. People would look at stats and say that DLo is more talented than Conley, but Conley is an established veteran who has been through several playoffs. Intelligence in the playoffs is needed to win. Dejountae Murray would be even better. We also need more wing shooting. JB Bickerstaff and Sam Cassell should highly be considered for this job. I don’t see why JJ Redick would be a better option for them.
