Austin reeves is a showboater who consistently tries to show off his handles and winds up losing the ball causing turnovers. His field vision is not good, he makes passes that make 0 sense, sometimes resulting in him occasionally passing the opposing team the ball. He tries to dribble like he’s Kyrie but doesn’t have the center of gravity, balance, or skill for what he’s attempting, resulting in him losing the ball. His shot selection is inconsistent and his finishing is also inconsistent. I actually like reeves but saying you want him to run the offense when he hasn’t accomplished anything other than playing a role on the team is actual lunacy.

He’s still good but endurance wise you’re asking a 40 year old man to potentially play multiple lengthy playoff series for a potential championship. That doesnt even sound right. I like Jimmy he's an allstar and very talented and could play well on both sides of the ball but he's 35 years old and that contract is very expensive plus knowing he would want a extension and to be paid even more to stay longterm just puts you in a rough spot. If he was 30 or younger sure i could see it but at 35 years old it's just not a good trade. Also Austin has been playing like a allstar and as our third best player and he's on a great contract and just 26 years old plus usually doesn't get injured. Im not trading Austin unless i know the player your getting back is not only a good player but someone that we know will be wifh us long term 5+ years out. Zach lavine again is on a terrible contract even more expensive than Butler and has a extensive injury history and i still wouldn't give up Reaves for him but the point is Lavine is only 29. 6 years younger. If your gonna make a big trade that jeopardizes your future I'd rather get guys back ik will be with us longterm. Now you could make the argument if we get jimmy even if he's with us 2-3 years to finish career that you now jet rocket your odds to potentially win a championship with that big 3 short term and if you win a championship it was worth it but i still wouldn't do that bc its not a guarantee they'd win a championship and it's alot of pressure for one for it to be worth the trade. Im still under the impression we need to do like what we did with with acquiring DFS and Shake. Doesnt need to be flashy names just make a trade for players that you know will fit this team well and address issues we currently have. We need another big and that's the trade I'd be focusing on first. Probably the only team that can give up assests without losing their core are the Grizzles. Simply they can trade Smart who is injured and on an expiring contract, Luke Kennard also on an expiring contract, and Brandon Clarke to meet the salary req for Butler. Throw in a few draft assests if needed. Grizz are 2nd in the West with an injured Morant. Butler can slide into the SF position and the Grizz will still have their core of Morant Bane JJjr Edey and keep their rising rookie star Jaylen Wells. Of course this is if the Heat want to simply get rid of Butler and dont ask for serious draft compensation and players.

@ same thing I been hearing since 2021.. since then we have tried around 12 different bigs.. modern era requires a guy like ad to play the 5 for success. What he really needs is long athletic wings around him that can defend and space. U can also go the route of a pass first guard or a scoring guard that can use the gravity of Anthony Davis in pick and roll, this is why I was so high on kyrie but we messed that up. Dear on fox is a good option too so I’ll take it.

I would do it. You want to win a championship right? This would maximise your chances. Get Jimmy this season, then resign him for 2 more with Bron, which gives you 3 chances at getting at least 1 chip (this season plus the next 2). Yeah we wouldn’t want to give up Reaves but Jimmy is better than Reaves right now. If Lakers don’t do it and one of our competitors does ( Nuggets, Suns, Mavs etc.) and then they win the chip, then we wasted our opportunity. Butler has no plans to being a role player. With A.D. and LBJ on the court, Jimmy Butler would be just that. Fact: Butler is complaining about not being able to be a dominant scorer on the 6th place Heat -- where he is already getting 30 minutes per game as a starter but only 10.5 attempts per game (4th most on the team). If he's not enjoying this supporting role player role on the Heat so the Lakers are not a good fit because that's all he would be again with A.D. and LBJ already dominating the ball and the shot attempts. Also, there is the issue of the Jimmy Butler contract -- $48.7M this season and $52.4 next season -- so you'd have to gut the Lakers roster to make salaries work. All of that money and hassle just to get a player who would be the 3rd, 4th, or even 5th scoring option on this Lakers team. The Lakers need content, blue collar, more affordable players who are stars in their roles on a team where there is likely less than a dozen shots a game available unless you're on of the big two. When winning their rings, Shaq and Kobe had great supporting players in Robert Horry, D-Fish, Rick Fox, Horace Grant, Glen Rice, Madsen, etc. Then Kobe and Pau also had their support from players such as Odom, D-Fish, Metta WP, Bynum, Farmar, the Machine, etc.
