Because he makes 13M and is worth the money in the right role, which is being a highly efficient scoring punch that brings energy, quick connecting passes and speed off the bench. They should trade neither one of them. Rui however makes 18M for being a backup 4, which we have 4 others on the roster, who are all at least passable players. Vanderbilt can't shoot and Rui can't defend. That's 31M. Gabe Vincent also makes 10.5M and showed us the production of half a Max Christie. That's 40.5M that we should try to get stuff for that fits better. Dinwiddie isn't 7.5M worse than Gabe for example. In my opinion the roster looked like this the whole time: D'Lo / Nothing / Nothing / LBJ / AD Spencer / AR / Prince / Vando / Wood Gabe / Mays / Max (Cam) / Rui / Hayes Gabe could be above Spencer and Rui could be above Vando, but we certainly don't need millions upon millions hidden that deeply in the depth chart. With that and the lack of usable 2-way guys at the 2 and 3 we simply can't get anywhere. I see 10.5M and 18M that only got into games in the playoffs, because Vando wasn't available and we were paper thin at the 2. We should trade that weight away, because for that money you can absolutely find a lot of really good athletic, lanky 2-way players, who can really defend and shoot. There are quite a few of them around. That could be Wright, Isaac, Caruso, Jones and a lot more. OGA would be the home run signing though. If they can get OGA and Caruso we are destroying everyone on the way to the chip with absolutely no other roster changes even being necessary. But that's not what people are looking for. They are looking for a traditional big, the type that can't stay on the floor or be efficient enough to win with in the modern NBA and a new PG of which there isn't one that could reproduce what D'Lo did for us. Murray rated out worse on defense, never mind shooting the ball way less and way worse than D'Lo.

D'lo opts in and has 18.6 mil. Other teams that are 1st apron or higher. Suns only have Nurkic with a 18.1 mil. Suns taking more than 100%. Timberwolves have Monte Morris at the exact contract but he is a free agent so it would have to be a sign and trade and that would hard cap the Lakers. Celtics don't have a matching contract. Tbh I’m not a huge fan of dlo especially in certain matchups in the playoffs wouldn’t lose sleep if he left but… but honestly we can’t have it all our way if we can’t get no superstar or quality role players back for dlo also if he sign back … then we might as well keep him far as the pg on the Lakers rn he is definitely better then Gabe Vincent And Spencer although Spencer with consistent minutes could be good but yet to be seen so if all else fails definitely do what u can to bring dlo back he not all bad he definitely useful in areas lakers lack although we should call out bad play in players laker fans can’t be publicly tearing down our players otherwise other teams not gonna wanna sign our problems just gotta roll with the guys good or bad till they gone

All this could have been solved if the Lakers Management behaved the way the Mavs did.. The moves made by Nico Harrison the last 15 months have been smooth like Butter..adding Pj,Kyrie,Gafford, the Rookie has really changed this team.. Same goes for the Knicks front office.. Donte,Jalen,Og,Hart..all great moves. Both ran by inexperienced Front office dudes,but they have relationships around the NBA.. Lakers Sat on Austin,D'Lo,Rui those picks way too long.. Even if they couldn't get Kyrie your telling me they Couldn't have added Murray,Gafford & Washington? For Rui,Austin, the rookie and those picks? Found a way ti get back call of duty dennis..for vincent and picks from fire sale Toronto? Those are the moves around the edges.. No all star no max players no 3rd star. Ham should have been fired during the season allowed Handy ti take over..

I am Reaves fan and sometimes DLO fans just enrage me with their obssession to trade Reaves when he averaged 18-19 points against denver while playing very good defense on Murray, Curry and Banes during the last 2 season. But he could be the guy that enable us to win enough game so that lebron doesn't have to play 35 minutes per game during regular season. During playoff, just play him limited minutes.

AR could play the point, and you can play a defender beside him (even Vando) or Gabe, and that significantly helps point of attack PLUS lets AR focus on creating offense, where he's best AR is actually perfect beside Bron too, they don't step on each other's toes they augment each other even as they are both thought of as "ball dominant"
