Bring back the dumb inspirational posters we had in the 80s and 90s. Pictures of mountains and animals.

Removing these posters sends a powerful message to those depicted on the posters. Lakeville already has a reputation. This just highlights that. They can’t cite anything other than intolerance. The money has already been spent on printing them. I feel for those kids being caught up in their parents political hangups.

Inclusivity, empathy and to be kind to others should be taught by parents in the home before they even enter school. It’s sad that people need posters to remind them.

It's just basic school stuff. In the same way kids are taught to wash their hands after going to the bathroom, but many bathrooms still include a "don't forget to wash your hands!" note.

This has a negative impact on my clients that attend these schools. I've had BIPOC clients leave Lakeville because of how hard it is to be accepted. Disappointing that that experience I had here growing up hasn't changed- inclusivity threatens the privilege many thrive off of.

Here's an idea for a poster that all of MN should be quite content with. An image of MN's favorite son, Prince, with a quote that echos his longtime message of positivity & inclusion since the early 80s. "COLORBLIND. IT'S ABOUT TIME!" MN used to be that place. Sadly, the message of colorblindness was lost here as its soft, easily manipulated culture of good-hearted people pleasers has been invaded by radical racialist ideals that use manipulative language to play on negative emotions. Grow a spine, MN! You used to be better than this. Make MN nice real again. Stop falling into the thirst traps of virtue signaling clout seekers.

The thing is though, the whole point of public education is to indoctrinate children into being good Americans. America is a melting pot, it is a part of the teaching experience to teach good citizenship. We want good family people, married with children, who go to the Lutheran Church on Sunday, fish at the lake, show love and humility rather that rash hate to their neighbor, intelligence over stupidity. This is what it means to be a Minnesotan, and we should support our public schools and indoctrinate kids into being middle class, Lutheran, and of reasonable temperament. That's why I stand for these posters, I want to push Christian values in our public schools like love and kindness to those who are different and liberation of the oppressed.

No don't use merit. #1 lesson to teach kids, life isn't always fair. The best doesn't always win, disease isn't fair, hard work doesn't always receive recognition or an award. Merit isn't always equitable, achievement is. Tommy read 5 books a week, his mom works for the library and had access to many reading materials. Tony walked or biked to the library every day, his first language/language spoken at home is Chinese. He reads 2 books a day. Merit usually focuses on the best. Celebrate the journey and the achievement. Being the best has limitations, being better doesn't.
