Lakhamandal is an ancient Hindu temple complex, situated in the Jaunsar-Bawar region of Dehradun district in the state of Uttarakhand. The temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. This temple is popular among the Shaktism, who believe that a visit to this temple shrine will end their misfortunes.
Lakhamandal gets its name from the two words: lakha (Lakh) meaning "many" and mandals meaning "temples" or "lingam". Plenty of artistic works were found in the excavations by the Archaeological Survey of India.
This temple lies 128 km. from Dehradun, and 35 km. from Chakrata on the Mussoorie-Yamnotri road, past Kempty Falls. It is built in North Indian Architectural style, which is common in the hilly regions of Garhwal and Himachal Pradesh state. The Yamuna River flows alongside Lakhamandal village where the temple is situated.

There was only a museum of ASI here in Lakhamandal when I trekked here from Chakrata via Devban in 1985-86. No temple, no homestay. The Lakshyagriha caves were visible above and we were told that some sadhus live in the caves. It was otherwise a barren place.

Aaj you tube me preserve kar lo aap sare pal aur stay k option cities jaise lag rahe.aaj se 30 saal pehle na to utney stay option they tab k stay k jo pahadi option they wo village wali aut typical hills wali feel aati thi ab to sab jagah itna crowd vehicle ho gaye hain k mujhe to Nainital bhi Lucknow ka Aminabad market ya purani Dilli ka sadar bazar ho jata hai. Population crowd pollution se pahad ab sirf off season he kuch sukoon deta hai Sept first week k aas pas.ya uttrakhand char dham Yatra k bad shanti hoti hai. Lakhamandal Chakrata ya jo area abhi kam explored hain wahi maza dete hain. Choolhe ka khana to kya kehna All the best. Jai Yamuna maiya

Thank you sapnaji for showing this place..... when I was in college in mussoorie then our college trip came here but I could not go as I was suffering from fever that time...... I always wanted to come at this place but never got chance....I am taking about year 1992... when I was doing B.com from mussoorie college.... years passed now living in Faridabad after marriage my hometown is mussoorie I miss it now not visited mussoorie since past 12 years....
