I love how the one person Ralphie never asked the gun for (his dad) was the one who ended up getting him it in the end. I find that little detail really adorable

Regarding the scene with the tongue on the pole: the creators drilled a small hole in the pole and used suction to make it look as though his tongue was stuck to the pole.

Thank you. I was wondering how they did that.

Merry Christmas! 🎅 🎄 Author Jean Shepherd, the guy who wrote "In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash", is not only the narrator, but the irate man waiting in the Santa line at the department store. The woman standing behind him is his wife, Leigh Brown. Fun Fact: In 2005 the original home used for the exterior shots of the family home was put up for auction on eBay, and avid fan of the movie Brian Jones purchased it directly from the seller for $150,000. Jones then spent the following year restoring the home to the way it looked on screen. The exterior was completely restored and the interior was renovated to match the interior of the home shown in the movie (parts of the interior were actually filmed in a Toronto studio). On November 25, 2006, the home finally opened its doors as a tourist attraction. Jones spent close to $500,000 in preparation for this grand opening. In addition, he also purchased a house across the street and converted it to a gift shop and museum dedicated to the film and the house.

Just so you know, you're not the only one. I'm white and I'm wondering why everyone in Indiana is entirely melanin free. I'm Canadian so I'm no expert on the state of Indiana or its demographics, but I grew up in Vancouver, Canada, and I was quite literally the minority white kid. I wouldn't change it for the world, so I can't imagine a place like this movie. I love the film - the dialogue is fantastic and the movie really understands kids, but diversity is definitely an issue and it makes the film seem less realistic to me. If I didn't see an Asian or Italian or black kid growing up, I'd start to think I was lost or in some kind of horror movie. I'd be the kid saying "oh fudge," and I would have said "fudge" or I would have gotten a beat down. In any case, Merry Christmas, or whatever you celebrate, make it a good one. Christmas is going to be pretty rough this year, I think. After this, I'm on to the Trailer Park Boys Christmas Special. Ricky still can't tell the difference between Santa, Jesus and God. I mean, how else does he get presents to all the kids in the world? Of course he's God! LOL.

1940 America. There was a black child in the class, which is 1 more than I’d expect with segregation in schools at the time.
@goldenageofdinosaurs71922 жыл бұрын
In 1939, the black population was around 9% of the total American population. I grew up in Kansas, in the 70’s & my entire elementary school had 2 African American kids. My high school, which was around 1,400 kids had maybe 30 African American kids, tops. There are lots of places in this country that have few or even no black people. You grew up in a major city that is much more mixed. In smaller towns in the Midwest, especially in the segregated 30’s, this is a pretty accurate picture. That’s why there’s so many crappy people marching around. They’re rarely exposed to anyone outside their own race, so it’s easy to make them the ‘other’ & fear them.
