Yes exactly! We can't blame Lakme if people are culturally inclined towards products that make them look like ghosts 🙄 I have a fairer skin tone comparatively but I'm still told to get a lighter colour and when I protest they look at me like I dont know what I'm talking about. The problem is that the majority of women in India will still buy brands like fair and lovely despite campaigns against the brand (but to their credit the media is doing a good job of giving them less coverage and attention) Their grandmas and mothers will still give them ancient advice about not to do etc etc thing because it makes them dark. A white friend of mine came to India with a boatload of foundations from abroad thinking she wouldn't find her shade here but of course she did. And EVERYWHERE she went she found her shade and found that women were actually buying these or being peddled these to look fairer. She even saw that fairness and lightening beauty products were everywhere, something unheard of abroad. When she questioned the lack of shade range she was told that there was no demand for it and that when darker shades were introduced that NOBODY bought them, opting instead for the ghosty shades.🤦‍♀️ So you see, that's where the problem lies. Unless THIS mentality changes, how will the brands change? You can't keep blaming a brand for what society demands from them. Yes, these brands need to step up their game but in order to do that they need to get behind these campaigns and thereby send out a larger message that challenges these set views in a way that people can understand and relate to. That's the only way this will work because as I pointed out just randomly introducing darker shades won't help, the message needs to be much more clear and more vocal for there to be any impact. Even then things wont change immediately so whining and shaming them right now won't help. Instead show them ways in which they can do their bit.

Honestly I couldn't bother about lakme 🙄there are better brands with 30,50 shades.... Moreover this brand has been the cause of low self esteem of millions of girls growing up so lakme can go to hell with their 12 shades... I am not an AFTERTHOUGHT

Same is with nykaa. Her shade no s 13 and nykaa has total 13 shades..jovita isn't evn dark. She has a bful dusky complexion. Yet d last shade in nykaa. Lakme still had darker shade, vch is evnmore shocking

I am the only one who kinda feels like they hav a bit of a grey undertone to them, kinda like when the darker shades are kind of just made from the previous lighter ones by adding a darker pigment to then but not actually CUSTOMISING them for darker skin tones...

I was actually discussing Lakmé shade range with my mom yesterday. I'm so happy to see this video. I don't use Lakmé products as such because I don't like their formulation at all but my mom does. I hope this shade range works well in the society and people stop thinking that makeup is for looking fairer. If they keep up with this mentality, the shade range will simply fail and the brand will hesitate to take such steps in the future.

I swatched this foundation at the store once. Didn’t like the texture at all! Felt too unnatural. Plus I’m not a fan of complete matte textures and fragrance in my makeup. But, I am glad they finally increased the shade range.

Ok so in MAC i am NC42 to NC44.5 so that beautiful medium olive tone caramelly (shade 07) will work for me. I appreciate that Lakme made some shades closer to real Indian womens skin tones.
