बीजेपी के वरिष्ठतम नेता लालकृष्ण आडवाणी आज यानी आठ नवंबर को 91 साल के हो गए. बीजेपी को शून्य से शिखर तक पहुंचाने में आडवाणी की अहम भूमिका रही है लेकिन आज की तारीख़ में आडवाणी बीजेपी में हाशिए पर हैं और सक्रिय राजनीति से बिल्कुल अलहदा हो गए हैं.
प्रधानमंत्री मोदी कभी आडवाणी के काफ़ी क़रीबी हुआ करते थे, लेकिन 2014 में प्रधानमंत्री उम्मीदवार के चयन के बाद से दोनों के रिश्तों में कड़वाहट आई है.
गुरुवार को मोदी ने भी आडवाणी को जन्मदिन की बधाई दी और लंबी उम्र की कामना की. आडवाणी का रजनीतिक जीवन संघर्षों से भरा रहा है, लेकिन वो प्रधानमंत्री की कुर्सी तक नहीं पहुंच पाए. आख़िर उनकी राजनीति कहां चूक गई?
एक ज़माने में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के वयोवृद्ध नेता लाल कृष्ण आडवाणी की पूरे भारत में तूती बोला करती थी और उन्हें प्रधानमंत्री पद का प्रबल दावेदार माना जाता था.
लेकिन पिछले दिनों जब राष्ट्रपति पद का चुनाव हुआ तो उनका नाम इस पद के संभावितों की सूची में भी नहीं रखा गया.
