I've always taken the queen as being overprotective, because she's seen the strength and hardships a king must endure, and doesn't want Bojji to endanger himself with all that. She sees him being deaf and not as strong as insurmountable disadvantages, and just wants him to be safe.

They think that they can do everything even when we tell them that they can't. Which is why many kids/teens are always tent to do something that their parents told them not to do. And you think she treat him badly? That is badly? She is just your regular kinda strict mother. She don't treat him badly.

Fun little detail!! In Queen Hiling's flashback the maid is using sign to translate. We know the Queen can use it currently meaning she learned sign just to communicate with Bojji

I think she was just too protective of Bojji and she underestimates him a lot. She didn't want him to be king because she's afraid he would embarrass or hurt himself. She cares for Bojji but she doesn't trust in his abilities. It's a tough kind of love.

The trap is that we like Bouji too much, so the narration kind of play with our bias. If we take our bias out of the way, at this moment of the story, Bouji is not king material. He's kind, too kind. He got mugged, and was walknin town with nothing but his underwear in front of his subject, who by the way, don't have an ounce of respect toward him, justifiably so since he didn't do anything notable to earn it. He also cannot communicate with anyone that don't know sign language, can you imagine? A king that cannot talk or beingunderstood by his own people? The only thing that make him qualify for being a king is simple, his lineage, nothing else. That's probably what the queen see, she love Bouji as a son but believe him to be inapt to rule over a country. On the other hand his piece of shiet of a brother can do everything that he can't wich make him a much more king worthy material compared to Bouji. Ironicaly, the opposite is also true, Bouji has everything that his brother don't, weither it is heart or righteousness wich is essential qualities for a king that is loved by his people. The difference is, the shortcoming of Bouji have the potential to become his strenght, when on the other hand, Daida qualities is what will most likely become the thorn in his foot that will cause his end.

This is also a country that values physical strength above all else. Bojji's fighting style is actually very smart. With proper training he could probably flit across a battle field with unearthly speed dispatching foes with a finesse weapon like a rapier. Too fast for the eye to see and you're cut down before you know he's there. But his country values the brute force. A hero covered in scars from taking a blow and pushing on. So he's a coward and weak in their eyes. He needs new teachers.

I think the Queen and Domas are on his side, obviously. If he was made King, it would not be a popular decision and they don't want him to have to go through the crap that would follow. As for the Queen's attitude, her biological son has to take priority over her step-son, I can't blame her for that. Who is good and who is bad? I'm not even sure that demon thing is automatically evil. Even Daida might be a pawn. There's a real directness to the story that is so addictive, shit is just going to happen straight-up.

Every episode is painful. The queen healing him takes a lot of energy too and she tries her best to protect him. She has to hide the fact healing him from Daida. The series is based on an ongoing manga with 11 volumes

I love Bojji SO much, he's precious and I want to fight anyone that makes him sad, but I really feel so bad for Kage. Bojii's got it rough, but he's still got people (and animals) that care about him. Kage was alone for so long, but he finally found a friend in Bojji, and now he gets chased off to who knows where, and again he's got absolutely no one. It makes me want to cry. I just want them to be reunited already.

I knew she had some kind of motherly love towards Bojji, and wonder why she hid it, even in the manga while she healed him after his fight, she mentioned that it would be best if he lived in the forest free and happy. It makes sense that she saw that he wasn't king material and was worried about that, and how he would be treated and seen by others. She didn't have to switch up on him and be mean at times though. But I like your theory on it and it makes sense too. In the manga after the king died it also mentioned why Bojji is so small and weak, I wonder when they'll touch on that in the show🤔. Anyway I always look forward to these eps and I can't wait to see what happens in the coming eps and your reaction 😁

I don't think they will reveal that part from on early stage of the show. What i can see from the 3 episodes, it seem like they change the pace of the story and it not exactly linear as the manga. It seem more interesting this way. For example, in the manga, the queen heal bojji (ep 3) before kage appear (ep 2). The manga got lots of flashbacks and backstory, so i think it easier for them to focus on 1 character development per episode. Next episode could be the reveal of Domas character. I don't know how far the anime will follow the manga with only 23 episodes. I hope it will cover up until the parts before Bojji continue his new adventure. I already saw all the chapters for manga when i don't even understand a word.

The snakes were not Bebin's yet. After this incident, the snakes are them almost killed by the guards but Bebin rescues it. The King seeing this, tests Bebin in combat and promotes him the the elite guard. Also, it was shown that Bojji and the Queen got close but drifted apart when she gave birth to the younger brother. The manga expounds on some things a little which is how I know this.

This is such a wonderful and sweet anime. I think the reason why the queen becomes a bit meanly to Boji after she got pregnant is because Daida is her first biologic child and he becomes her priority from that moment on. THIS SHOW IS PEAK FANTASY!!!!!

You totally missed the point man. Domas really cares for him. Like in ep 2 he says what he said to Bojji because he knows everyone will call him a coward if he doesn't 'Fight like a true king'. That's why losing to a prodigy like Daida is better for him than winning like a coward. That's why he voted against him in the king's selection too. He would have been mocked by everyone if he had become king. That's the reason hiling decided to do this at the first place. She loves him and doesn't want him to be looked down by his people(more than they do already).

Honestly the decision to make daida a king is not wrong. The queen could've hold the throne until both prince mature and let one of them take the throne. But, if for some reason, that's not an option, appointing daida as king is probably the second best. "Bojji is still a kid" but so is daida. He's *even younger* than bojji, show much more promise and he's not deaf. It's a vote to determine who's more fit to be a king. Between daida and bojji. So "he's still a kid" doesn't really work. If anything it favor daida who's even younger. Maybe it's a valid excuse if they are discussing about how neither of them should take the throne, but it's not for whatever plot reasons. Your anger is irrational.

I see what you're saying, but we've already seen that Bojji is stubborn and determined. Kage even said that he couldn't be king in the first episode and Bojji was having none of that. I believe the queen thought going over his head would be the best option. Plus, best not show any affection. It's another way of protecting him (at least that's how I see it).

She's trying to protect him from being king and he wants to be king no matter what, talking to him about it was probably not going to change his mind. That's the main point I'm arguing. You also have to keep in mind appearances and such due to them being royalty. I just like the added complexity to her character and that the medieval setting is more realistic than it initially appeared. Plus, this could be an arc she goes through or she could die idk we just have to wait and see.
