Señores estamos escuchando nada mas y nada menos que MARILYN HORNE.❤❤❤❤❤
@Zva2615 жыл бұрын
No one has filled her chair in this repertoire, and is quite unlikely that anyone else ever will. She is as responsible for the bel canto revival as Callas and Sutherland. Callas started it, Sutherland continued, and Horne put the whipped cream on top of the cake. Her composer was Rossini, and she astonished the opera world with her fireworks. May she remain secure in the annals of opera!

But don't forget the difference between timbro, colore, tessitura... marvellous mezzo came from the America are sometimes superbs.
@theonlygoodlookinghabsburg2081 Жыл бұрын
@@giovanniarioli2971I thought that timbre and color meant the same. What is the difference between them, may I ask?
@giovanniarioli2971 Жыл бұрын
@@theonlygoodlookinghabsburg2081 the extremely different is in the tissues of the voice, especially in the low registers. In general The Great Maryline Horne is an exception she can cover extremely high and low notes. But the tissues are different. Maestra Valentini Terrani remains the perfect in this role, il colore è sempre ambrata, quasi mai chiaro, gli acuti sono bronzei colorati tenuti e squillanti ambrati. Ci manchi
@theonlygoodlookinghabsburg2081 Жыл бұрын
@@giovanniarioli2971 Ah yes, the great Terrani with her extremely warm & creamy color. I like to think of her as the mezzo/contralto sister of Leyla Gencer. I don't think there are any other singers whom I enjoy their high notes more than these two ladies (RIP). I don't particularly like Horne's high notes that much. But when she sings low, I can't resist her, I'm very happy that she decided to sing mostly as a Rossinian coloratura-mezzo. That said, I still enjoy her 1970 Norma & Anna Bolena (with Nicola Ghiaurov) very much. Especially Norma, because even though Adalgisa sings high, there are many intimate moments. And I think her duet with Tagliavini in Act 1 is my favorite.

She belongs in the Pantheon of singers. No one like her. I once had the privilege of escorting her to her car on a rainy night in New Haven around 1988, after a recital (and a quick conversation with me).

En 1986, la Horne avait retrouvé son niveau habituel, qu'elle n'avait pas toujours eu entre 1983 et 85. Je l'ai vue à Pesaro dans Bianca e Faliero en 1986, où elle fut époustouflante.

Horne uses her voice as an if it were one of the metal instruments of the orchestra. Exact in tone from bottom to top. Wonderful vocal production. I loved most of her performances and recordings.
@michaelinmass12 күн бұрын
The critical voices here should bear in mind that she had already been singing big rep for decades by the time she did this. For her age this is pretty phenomenal even if it is not the same sound she made at an earlier phase of her career. Callas and Sutherland also changed voice timbre as they aged. It was a very large and impressive sound live.

thank you so much for uploading this. so this is the calbo version (maometto II)? it differs from the neocle version (l'assedio di corinto) with many more ornamentations. there is also a concert version of the assedio aria with an extended scena, which horne performed with henry lewis, i think. does anyone know of any other singers that have performed the extended scena, i have never found another one.

At 8:46 when's she's concluding, doesn't the conductor look positively SILLY frantically gesticulating as if he's going to the get orchestra to play faster for those few measures. Why bother? They could play that part without his waving his arms about.
