I previously asked if anyone knew the tuning and chord progression for this awesome version. I just figured out a tuning that really complements it well. EADGGD. I’m not sure the official terminology, but I play the song in the bar chord configuration while leaving the two high strings open. It also works very well for a few Lincoln Park songs.

Yossi Stern-- for this acoustic version as recorded it's a simple 4 chord song-- standard tuning EADGBe, chords G Bb5 F C5. There's also a simple quick open string strum before playing the Bb5. Chords should be played as barre chord, they sound better for this song. Solo is simple scales over verse/chorus chords. Listen to the song to get the strum pattern down, it's easy. Really sounds great played on a 12-string guitar too. On the recording it sounds like Lenny has a 12-string in the mix. Of course the great lyrics and Lenny's voice on top of a simple, yet catchy tune is the finishing touches to this classic song.

The 2nd guitar (lead) is tuned to some kind of open key too - which gives the tune a unique underlying off-key drone. It also separates it from the 12-string in the Left channel of the recording, & altogether creates a sublimely-warm tone - combined with Lenny's sultry voice!
