My interpretation of this song: Laleh represents a dying mother, who will not live long enough to experience the next spring with her children. Swedish people absolutely love the spring and summer, because of the long, harsh and cold winters. Laleh almost never sings about things like love, it is the more about life and death, light and darkness, happiness and sorrow. She is truly unique in her own style, both in singing and in presentation. Like E-Type said: "She doesn't sing what she doesn't mean." and she is wonderful in expressing exactly what she is feeling with her whole body and voice. Switching between expressionate joy and sad melancholy, young and livid to old and calm. She really puts her heart into her work, a true artist. And do I dare to say even I as a swede consider swedish to be an absolutely beautiful language in singing, we should never sing in english! Swedish is made for singing. The singer can sound like a beast that wants to tear you apart (like Raubtier) or like an angel without making it sound silly. Her live performance at the Nobel Prize Concert was magnificent, her singing repertoire... I just say WOW!

This is amazing but after I've watched it like more than 10 times I wonder if this song is about a sister who's losing her brother too soon? From the video the girl may represents as younger Laleh or something like that, I'm not sure but it's also tricky when you watch the video along with the lyrics. But she's truly amazing

There is something mysterious going on here, a mix of happiness and melancholy. Lyrics about an event that for Swedes is like being born again after another never ending winter. All of that in a few minutes. Emotions. Laleh, I look forward to your next album whenever that will be. Keep writing, you do it so well.

If none have posted this yet, a rough translation for our english speakers... ;) First day of spring and I want to be there, and I want to be there so much, so that i can see I am a part of everything . This spring's big day and I want to be there. Let me live longer now that I can see. Spring comes, laughter comes, comes the tears in the night. Let me be, let me be a little more, I am, I'm not ready to go yet. Let me be, let me be , a little more, I am, I'm not ready to die yet, not yet. No, I am , I'm not ready to go yet, not yet. No, I am , I am not prepared to go. On your big day I wanted to be there. I asked: Let me live longer. But through your eyes I saw the kids, I saw the laughter, I was the tears of the night. I saw the kids, I saw the laughter , I was the tears of the night. Let me be, let me be ... Let me be, let me be ... No, I'm ... On your big day then I wanted to be there , then I wanted to be there so much. There. Let me be, let me be a little more, I am, I'm not ready to go yet. Let me be , let me be , a little more , I am, I'm not ready to die yet, not yet. No, I am , I am not prepared to go . On your big day I wanted to be there , I wanted to be there.

Alltså det där leendet runt 17 sekunder och hennes frasering och det där trotsiga "nä/nej" golvar mig totalt. Sån söt charmig och vacker kvinna.

Laleh is relatively known for being sort of, passive when it comes to interviews. She have said that she'd rather sing then talk about herself. At the same time she doesn't really tour the same way as most artist does, "Cant stand being the sad girl with a guitar for more than two shows a fall", She's unique, and I think the good part of her lyrics is that you decide yourself.

Ramesh is correct, her persian heritage is showing in her singing technique. She mixes different styles and sometimes, the persian singing style shines through. That's what makes her so special I think, she can sing in so many different ways and switch between them in the blink of an eye.

if you build your life apon a sand castle that will eventually crumble just because you believe you is nothing more than this body I encourage you to think about that once more. nothing in the universe becomes nothing so what makes you think that your being will magically be different? our soul evolves like anything else.I Feel it in my bones that We learn and communicate to the source we are all apart of so that it can manifest and figure it self out and grow closer to the one of everything. the source. we are all in a sense creators and/or the gods of tour own reality. if you read ancient scriptures you will see that it seems we once was aware of this amazement and we squandred it several times and now we marvel at structures and megalits we cant reproduce to this day, then conrtibute these amazing monuments to slaves with copper chisels. the truth is written down by the leftover if you really want to know. sadly we are probably going to be washed away like in the past and the survivors is going to be the tribes in the jungle that only hear tales about our existence.

You probably realised this but the spring is a metafor, but I think the song is more about the children, how a parent want to be with them, dont want to be with them and the finnaly doing everything just to be with them. "..On the first day of the spring, I want to be a part of it. - Let me live longer" and then she sings at the end of the song - "..On the first day of the spring, I wanted to be a part of it - Im not ready to die". I can write the English lyrics and you'll see for yourself.
