Can they win both? It's really dumb tho and offensive player of the year is just runner-up MVP basically, which is kind of a pointless award. They need to make it so either MVP can only be offensive or defensive player of the year. So you need to win both. It just makes more sense and is way more logical than offensive player of the year be "you weren't MVP but you were runner up so here you go because MVP can't win both" (I don't think). Alternatively, they could just make a separate award for Best QB or Most Valuable QB or whatever and then exclude QBs from OPOY. Then one true MVP isn't even really necessary. The goal is just to win your respective award. You could even have an MVP under the system I mentioned before if you really wanted to, but I don't know how worthwhile it would be since it'd be a QB 90% of the time. I think it'd be nice because you'd basically have 3 MVPs of each season, just at different positions. So even though there would be potentially several qbs that didnt win qb award that would've won opoy, it looks more at relative to competition. And 90% you will still have the true MVP being in the qb award anyways so why give the runners up an award.

Lamar is a great quarterback. He’s got a lot going for him. However his defense impressed me more than he did. They gave him so many opportunities to score it wasn’t even funny. The ravens defense were in a league of their own. In my opinion, this MVP was definitely a “media pushed” award. Ain’t no way he had an MVP season.

Until Lamar can win playoff games, he’s gonna be called a regular season merchant like Dak Prescott. The only “goal post” I have is to do better in the playoffs. Your defense got you the number 1 seed in the whole league… and what did you do with it? You gave the game away to the chiefs while your defense was holding strong waiting for you to make plays. He’s a great QB… good at extending plays and buying time.. however to say he’s the MVP of this whole year is beyond ridiculous. He’s a great runner… mediocre passer… excellent pocket escaper. As a Ravens fan and a football guy, I understand the arguements for CMC, ALLEN, and(maybe) PURDY. However, if watch Lamars highlights, a lot of those plays are SITUATIONAL, GAME DECIDING plays. No bias here. Purely from a footbal lense, how many times have the latter 3 bailed their respective teams out of bad situations throughout the regular season? The answer is Lamar.

I love Allen, easily the most fun qb to watch in the league and I believe he has the highest ceiling, but his QBR was literally ten points behind lamar because of his turnover rate. Efficiency stats matter alot.
