Lamb Bunny Chow is a well known South African dish. Bunny Chows in general basically consist of a hollowed bread with a filling of your choice, i.e lamb curry, chicken curry, vegetable curry, beans curry & so forth.
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ CLICK FOR INGREDIENTS ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Mutton curry or lamb curry (likewise alluded to as kosha mangsho) is an Indian curry dish that is set up from lamb/mutton and/or vegetables and began in Bengal. South African style mutton or lamb curry is somewhat different compared to that found in India.

Wow! You took me right back to my childhood, growing up in Durban. I ate my first bunny chow when I was 10 yrs old. My friend told me to collect as many empty Coke bottles as I could find and he was going to give me a surprise at our local Indian t-room in Greyville. I remember it was right next door to the W Daly cold-drink factory and about two blocks from where we lived. When we got there I thought we were going to buy some sweets. But, he handed over all the bottles we had collected (in those days we got a deposit for them) and asked for two quarter beans bunnies. I had no idea what a bunny was back then. But, when they were handed over a short time later, we went outside and sat on the pavement. We unwrapped the papers and I'll never forget, the smell was incredible. We both had little plastic bags with the grated carrot salad which we ate with the top plug of the bread. Let me just say, I wasn't expecting the fierce heat from that curry. But clearly, my friend had had one before because he told me to keep eating and I would be alright. I'm glad I listened because with tears streaming down my cheeks I ate the whole thing and it changed my life. Growing up in Durban, and on into adulthood bunny chow became my mainstay of late-night cuisine. There was no better meal to have after a night out and before bed in the early hours, than a bunny chow. I have many great memories of Overport and the many bunny shops that were open 24 hours a day. Many, many, years later my wife and I took a trip to Duban during our honeymoon. Can you guess what our first meal was? I know that India is known for its delicious food. But, there is, and always will be, something special about a curry eaten in Durban. Until you have tried it you will never know! Love you guys, and thank you for sharing your fabulous recipe with the World.

@@fahmeidahaffejee5778 Awesome! Such a small world we live in when we can share such an experience. My other favourite was (I'll probably get this wrong!), a kebab roti with cheese from a takeaway shop in Sparks Road, Overport. I think it's still there, but it's now called Al-Razzaaq. This was another 2:00AM stop off after a great night out. Thinking about this makes want to jump on a plane right now.

Hi. Thank you for the recipe! I have a question. If I replace lamb with chicken (because lamb is not so easy to get in Supermarket) do I need to change anything. Would it still be 500g of boneless chicken?
@eatmeerecipes
@eatmeerecipes Жыл бұрын
You're most welcome, with chicken you could do about 6 boneless chicken breasts (you can estimate from there how much with other boneless chicken) or you could do a full whole chicken cut into pieces (that's usually about 500-800 grams)

@eatmeerecipes

@@derkleinemaulwurf7640 no problem, with the chicken you can add the potatoes with the boneless chicken (breasts) and you can add it about 10 minutes after adding whole chicken
