Not that the last 2-3 albums have been bad by any means, but man the era from as the palaces burn through wrath was incredible. The riffage was just so damn good during that time. Still love that they are going strong though.

i recently read a comment under a log video that referred to palaces to wrath era as "the big four". i found it quite fitting
I feel you. I think they hit a point where they had to sacrifice song structure in order to play an entire live show. Hard to play a dozen-plus songs with Laid to Rest level riffage.

To be honest, Art plays so much tighter and cleaner in his live performances in comparison to Chris. I mean no disrespect to Chris, his studio drumming was very influential to me, he brought metal drumming to another level back then. But when I saw them live (around 2015/2016) his playing was so sloppy that I literally stopped listening to LoG for a while. And many other live videos that I saw later confirmed that in my opinion. Whereas I never saw a bad performance of Art so far. He is a beast, is very respectful to the beautiful parts that Chris wrote and his own drum parts on the new records are killer, too (yet they may a bit less creative than the ones Chris played).

Lamb of God IS epic live, but I cannot lie, Slayer blew me away more. Those guys sounded so fucking good even after 38 years, on their final campaign tour. The pyro was sick, like the fire curtains on both sides of the stage before Hell Awaits and just when I thought they couldn't possibly be tighter or faster, they somehow found a new notch to kick it up to. It was like 30 some songs of brutality and then some 😁🖤🤘🏻💥

@@CrazyHeadassery That's awful, don't they play anywhere near where you are ? We're fortunate enough to live in the country, between 2 small towns (less than 1,000 people lol) where some days I see more deer 🦌 than people 🙂 Yet we're still within 1-3 hour's drive, sometimes a little longer, of a good metal band playing. And you don't need the best, most expensive tickets to still enjoy the show and have a great time. Thankfully metal bands don't charge those ridiculous prices like some of the pop bands and rappers charge, like several hundred dollars or more. To me that's just pure greed. I got 2 tickets to see Lamb Of God for less than $100. And I'm on disability because my back is messed up. I have 16 screws in my back after 20 years work as a RN.
