Dear Randy, this song reminds me with every word that I am a recovered addict whom has died briefly from an OD 7 years ago. That part of me is always waiting to kill me again should I slip. @@bobbaganush17 I disagree. I only like about half of that album. From what I've heard from Omens it sounds better than the self-titled. New Colossal Hate, Resurrection Man, Routes, On The Hook, Blood Shot Eyes and Reality Bath are good tracks. The rest not so much. Poison Dream is my least favorite LoG track next to Invictus.

To my ear, two Thrash bands tower above all the others in consistency: one is Kreator and the other is this fine American outfit. If you're in a seriously METAL mood it has to be one of these two. This track is another winner. It's everything I'd want and expect from a Metal tune. The production gets particular mention - outstanding. The fans will be happy. My Score: Good 3*

So first of all, last album "self titled" was amazing, one of their best, imo. Hardcore instrumental work plus Art Cruz's drumming was great, considering he was replacing the great Chris Adler. Album before that, Sturn und Drang VII, was also a classic! Resolution was great too, just shy of classic. Wrath was classic. sacrament was classic. Ashes of the wake was classic in a sense that it started solidifying what THEIR sound was/is. So there is more classic albums than almost any band can wish for. Now the Omens album, I initially did not like. But I kept listening to it couple days apart on every listen...and it grew on me. Art Cruz drumming is fine, but not as flashy as last album. Randy's singing patterns are often very similar in cadence and flow on this album which would make for repetitive sounding songs. Willie Adler, mark Morton and Campbell try their best at making songs sound original with help of Art Cruz, and after several listens you will start appreciate the work they put in, but it's mainly Randy's repetitive cadence and singing/screaming in similar key makes several songs sounds same, as I initially thought as well. Also, I read that that they recorded as a band in a studio together which they haven't done in s verbal album cycles. And the producer wanted the recordings to sound like a band playing together "live" which gave it a weird sound sometimes, especially to guitars. Sometimes, the sounded echoey and far away. But give it couple more spins, just 3 songs a time, and you'll see that it is still good ol Lamb of God.

But I got into Lamb of God later on so I didn't experience ashes of the wake at it's release, so I didn't feel its impact on metal and the listener. For example, I think "VII Drung und Sturn" and the next s of titled album are just as consistent as Ashes of the Wake and are some of my favorite LoG albums. Even their new album has really grown on me. They are amazing and in my opinion, definitely did not peak back in 2004. I love this band.
