j'ai eu la chance d'entendre Annie Ross à Paris, en 1969 ou 70, dans un club qui s'appelait l'Apollo (l'ancien Blue Note, rue d'Artois), accompagnée par le trio de Georges Arvanitas et le sax alto Zbignew Namislowski ; un grand souvenir! Quelle immense classe! Merci Madame !

In the late 70s or early 80s I saw Jon Hendricks with his group that also featured his wife Judith, daughter Michelle & Kevin Burke on vocals at a club here in Portland, Oregon. Great, memorable show. Last year (2018) I saw a great tribute concert for Jon Hendricks, who passed in 2017. It featured solo, duet and ensemble performances by Kurt Elling (who had been mentored by JH), both of Hendricks' daughters, Kevin Burke and Nancy King, all backed by a great trio. They sang all those great Jon Hendricks lyrics, including this one. Jon Hendrick's derby hat was on a stool in a spotlight. At the finale (which included One O'Clock Jump), the whole ensemble was joined by the Portland State University Jazz Choir. The entire show was unbelievably joyous and swinging. Although I was smiling the whole time, tears were sliding down my cheek that I tried to hide from the folks I was with. I've seen literally many hundreds of shows in my life in numerous genres but few have made such an emotional impact.

Don’t confuse sound quality of the recording apparatus with their sound. This is actually pretty well captured considering the time and the fact they weren’t on a stage or studio. Their harmonies are on point and it’s just great to see a performance of them on film… as there aren’t many other ones I’ve seen
