This is going to be very interesting, looking forward to the results Steve👏👍👍

You're right of course, more gears does add more friction/resistance, but you're only adding 1 extra cog to the mix so I think the overall loss will be minimal. Your demo on this vid shows the 'neutral' aspect, when all gears are having to be spun on a stationary layshaft. When riding the layshaft will be at the same RPM as the selected gear and the remaining gears will be spinning on an RPM 'difference', if that makes sense, increasing as you move from 5th to 1st. What I'm trying to say is if you're riding in 5th, that gear spins with the layshaft, 4th gear will be spinning slightly slower, 3rd slower again etc, so you're not having to turn all gears on a stationary layshaft, there's a differential each step of the way. Not saying you're wrong by any means, but I think the overall impact is small. On the road I've found the spread of power over 5 gears to be really nice, but you've got a different requirement here. Good luck!

All valid. What about nano treatment; and run with minimal oil. Nano treatment can be just soaking in "Roil' for example. And drill that large gear

I'm about to put a five speed in mine for road use and to get the revs and speed high enough to get into fifth. My new build an RT195 Reed version with a CST 5 and 30 mil delly on an 18x47 with a LI 125 gearbox gives me an end ratio of 4.81 close enough to the SX 200 4.80. My problem is that on a calm day I can reach 70MPH but on a windy day I cant get into the power band so have only 50MPH. I'm hoping that the 5 speed set up still at 4.81 ratio will get me into the power band on a windy day. Would you agree or disagree?

Nope you will still be slow due to the wind ......
