Lamley Preview: Hot Wheels 2020 Fast & Furious Premium Fast Tuners

The first Fast & Furious Premium mix from Hot Wheels in 2020 is a doozy. Fast Tuners marks the debut of both the EG Civic and the 2016 WRX STI, not to mention three other must-haves. Look for this set in stores very soon, and here is a first look.

#1 (RX-7) was Orange Julius' car from the race at the very start of 2 Fast 2 Furious. #2 (S15) was a *very* minor car in the 4th movie, Fast and Furious, that was only seen for a couple frames and never even got driven. I think they just wanted to use the casting again. lol #3 (240SX/S14) This was used during Braga's initiation race to become one of his mules. Apparently, not memorable/big enough to make it into the list of cars int he F&F wiki. #4 (Civic Hatchback) I actually had to go skip through the 4th movie to find this car. It's seen for literally 2 seconds parked at Letty's funeral. It never gets driven and we don't even know whose it is. Before this video I thought that car was supposed to be Hector's from the 1st movie, just without the bodykit. #5 (2015 WRX STI) used by Mr. Nobody's right hand man in the Fate of the Furious during the snow fight with the submarine. All in all, very cool cars, but kinda meh as an F&F fan because 3 of these are third tier cars that got little to no air time nor were they driven by main or even secondary characters. There are some much better tuner choices out there from F&F, like Mia's Teggy or Hector's Civic Hatchback from the first movie.

I don't recall that dark grey Silvia at all. I don't mind too much that Hot Wheels utilizes Fast and Furious cars that didn't have a ton of screen time, so long as they're cool cars. That being said, Hot Wheels has really been stretching the F&F license with some cars. It's like they pick some random car that's one of hundreds during a wide shot of Race Wars and decide to put it into a set. I'm very puzzled that the American set that follows this one still doesn't feature any Mopar. Which is strange, given how much Dodge and Plymouth are both featured in the films. Like an orange 67 Camaro, that showed up on a lift in the background of a garage, was chosen over Letty's Plymouth Cuda or Dom's Roadrunner.

Like the Black NSX from the end of the 4th film. It got as much screen time as the Firebird that they featured in the same set as the Camaro.

TACADD I loved that dark grey S15, and honestly my top 3 fav fast movies include the fourth one because of the mostly stock looking cars they used for the film. It was in a scene where vin diesel has a guy hanging off a window and Paul walkers character arrives at his apartment. Such a clean s15 🤤. But I do agree, they’re milking the shit out of the license with some of their choices. That Cuda is necessary, along with the red 3000gt from the prelude, NSX from the fourth, 350z’s, red evo and FD from Tokyo drift, the grey chargers from the 6/7th one?, and the hellcat red eye from that terrible 8th one.

Nice set, good casting selections. The tampo work should be cleaner though, it looks too grainy on these close-ups. Anyway, the 2016 Subaru WRX STi and the Nissan Slivia S15 are my favorites, but i bet the Honda Civic EG will be the most popular. Definitely getting the whole set. Thanks for the preview Lamley!

great mix. need to get for sure my one complaint is that the s14 and s15 should have a raw base. let those intercoolers and exhaust tips shine!! (the rx7 and civic make sense to be painted because base includes the lip/skirts but the rest don't)

Just case you wanted to know where grey S15 and yellow Civic is from read this bellow. The grey s15 Silvia is from fast and and furious the 4th movie, it only gets a short amount of screen time but this car appears when Dom throws the guy out of the apartment window then Brian turns up and we see the car. That yellow civic is from the same movie but it only appears during the scene where they have the funeral for lettey

I guess the EG Civic hatchback is supposed to be Hector's from the first movie, the Mazda RX7 belongs to Orange Julius from 2 Fast 2 Furious, the gray Nissan S-15 is from the fourth movie, the S 14 is from the fourth movie too but it had more screen time,, and the White Subie from the Fate of the Furious....I have a white WRX from Majorette that looks similiar with opening doors....I prefer plain jane but I never saw the Fast Rewind in my local stores....it must have got snatched up by hobby shops or people buying cases....directly...I think shipping and recieving guys in my area are taking alot of the good stuff for themselves or to resell!

Yes!!! I can't wait to never find most or all of these due to the pending hype from this vid!!! I'm also not happy that the tampo's are bad on the two best cars in the whole set, EG and WRX. The tail and head lights are horrid on the EG. The wheel arches are way to big on the EG along with the wheels/tires, the hood's paint looks brushed on, and both it and the rear hatch in black looks like a ricer plasti dip job when they both should be in carbon fiber look tampo or even better plain yellow. The side trim molding is missing but is pictured on the card, incomplete paint under the rear spoiler. Let's be honest folks, for a $5+ premium it's a mess if you care about detail. As far as the WRX, the headlight tampo is a fail, The side window trim is unfinished, undersides of the side mirrors are unfinished, rear bumper tampo is grainy and honestly unnecessary, orange peel in the paint. I can't be the only one seeing all of these flaws.

Not a bad set. Glad to see the eg and the 2 Silvia's. The WRX was driven by Mr little nobody in Fate of the Furious. Rx7 is from the first race of 2F2F driven by orange Julius The Civic appeared in letty's funeral scene. The s15 appeared in the 4th movie driven by David park and the s14 was actually a prototype of lettys s14 from the first moviem

Lamley trying his best to sound enthusiastic...but it’s hard when the set isn’t all that great or exciting. Paint is still very pixilated...luckily I am not one of those that have to have everything. Hot Wheels has been coming out with too many new things. Wish they would focus on quality over quantity.
