Elite 64 is interesting. The level of details for the price is unimpressive compared to say MiniGT. However if they were to make the right castings I would be interested. Especially cars that nobody else has done in 1/64. The Mustang isn’t for me personally, I like my cars to be Stock mostly

Honestly a cash grab just to keep the Hotwheels hype high. Way too expensive even with preorder and then I see people selling them on eBay for $50. MiniGT is making much better cars at the around the same price with better quality and details. I will take a MINI GT any day over an Elite64. Quality over quantity is always important, especially for an adult collector.

Great work and design details on the Mustang. At first before being removed from the package I thought I disliked it. Once out the true model evolved. Beautiful work. I will probably need to purchase a few of these. Just purchased a couple of MB Elite examples but the Mustang takes the checkered flag 🏁 🏁🏁🏁🙂🙂🙂

Got to have the Mustang!! I think it's a good idea for a new line. I will do like I do now and pick and choose which one I order, so the price won't bother me if it's $20+ a car. Hopefully, they will be up to buy for a period of time and not like they do releases now. Have a car in your cart, go through payment, hit pay, and it comes back and says sold out and you miss out. I can understand something being limited, but they shouldn't let you get all the way to submitting payment and after you do, letting you know it sold out.

They want my thoughts well… I’m starting to get priced out of each of the Hot Wheels lines and fatigued on their distribution and release schedules. They’re not getting the pricing, production and release dates to match up and make sense causing general frustration among some of us wanna be “collectors” whatever that’s supposed to mean these days. The rising costs of RLC with far less exclusivity attached, and a release schedule way too heavy around Christmas for me is making me second guess which ones I really want. The Car Culture and Boulevard lines are supposed to be mass produced and easier to get than Mini GT or others but the production there is so low or distribution so flawed it’s near impossible to find them retail pushing the price up to levels beyond their relative value on eBay by adding shipping, profits for sellers, eBay fees and local taxes. Then many of these cost way more than other premium lines or their relative value. Now you add on Elite64 line with questionable relative value, exclusivity, and availability and only 1.5 models in and I see a downward trend for me and far less personal enthusiasm to be a “collector”. And again Tuesdays at 9am/12pm is such a weird time for releases since to afford any type of premium collecting you have to work and make decent money. I get it’s traditional for RLC but it’s not desirable to have more midday releases. For me that’s what happened with a lot of what Hot Wheels has tried over the years. The value proposition between price, quality and availability eventually killed my desire and pushed me out of collecting for years at a time. 100% line missed the mark on its value proposition with price and availability. Hot Wheels ID line missed the mark on relative value for models at first then by the time the models started getting interesting for collectors availability went out the window. I reluctantly pulled the trigger on the Merc to dip my toe in the Elite64 world but I’m not sure I’ll be back for more thinking of the 100-200 I can already spend a month with just Mattel trying not to miss randomly timed RLC releases, frustration with Car Culture availability and secondary market pricing and add on some premium Matchbox. Not sure I can commit much further as a “collector” and I may need to take a break from Mattel altogether or focus my collecting on Mini GT more since they have a lot of cars I’ve been holding out on getting and their availability and price are more consistent and less frustrating even on eBay. The concept of cannibalisation also comes to mind and we haven’t even thrown the next iteration of Speed Machines into the mix yet.

I actually like this Elite 64 line and what they are doing. As long as it can provide offerings that differentiate itself from anything else on the market and other HW lines and provide value for the $$$ it will be successful. The chaser is cool but the Mustang widebody is super cool and very impactful with that killer engine detail including mirrored turbos. I'll ante up for the Mustang for sure.

My one desire with regards to the Elite64 line is that these castings don't end up being "one and done" releases, but that Mattel makes multiple variations of each one. It would, of course, be awesome if they continued creating all-new one-off wheels for each release - I just hope to see the same Toyota Chaser casting and the same Custom Mustang casting, as two examples, in at least one other variant apiece. I absolutely love this product line, and I'll be honest - as someone whose primary hobby of interest is model railroading, $20 + S&H for a true 1:64 scale casting of this caliber is nowhere near as far-fetched for me as it is for some others 😁

Lamley, I'm in Canada so these Elite64 models are priced higher along with shipping. That Mustang (for the price) should have side mirrors - something I can overlook on the mainlines and even 'Premiums' but inexcusable on an 'Elite' model. I did grab the Chaser and the Gullwing but I'm not applying a 'gotta catch 'em all' mentality to this series. FWIW, I think Mattel is well aware of the Hot Wheels craze that's trending around the globe and the associated reselling. The Bronco RLC exclusive was almost $80 Canadian with shipping which is insane but it did sell out so they're going to keep pushing the envelope as far as pricing goes. I wouldn't be surprised if they churn out an 'ultra/mega elite' series that has even more details and 'working suspension' at a higher price. 😆😆😆

Even on premiums I believe they should have side mirrors as here in the uk atleast they are £10 which is 5x the price of a mainline yet some of the mainlines even receive mirrors and the number of them seems to be increasing.

i have to say my initial impression of the mustang was that is was ok, but seeing up close I might grab one.. the detail is really interesting. Maybe a subtle livery would help as it does have a time attack theme..noting crazy..like maybe it could be a very light white/grey? I loved the drift themed chaser and I'm excited to get my merc sl..

I love this idea of elite 64. The price I never really thought much of but now that ppl r talking about it makes sense. I think one thing for sure to lower the cost is no moving parts but even at that I don’t mind it. Idk I guess my only suggestion is what someone said and that’s to just ensure these r super high quality like kaidos and make sure the graphics on the cars on appealing.

What you get for the base price (so not including taxes and shipping) is bellow par. In the current market, this just doesn't make sense. Autoworld and MiniGT are half the price for better results. More premium brands like TarmacWorks, Inno64 and Para64 are still cheaper than Elite64 while being far better. Heck! Even older Hot Wheels lines like 100% offered a better deal than this. So it's a hard pass for me.

That being said, this Mustang looks dope. I like how they integrated design elements of the 1970 Mustang into the 1969 base and how bulky and ready to race this looks. Could have gone for a more interesting colour and graphics though. And those vents and intakes could also have used more details.

- I like this Elite 64 line. I like that they are more realistic looking than other hot wheels lines. Most RLCs don't get separate head/taillamps & they cost more right now. I feel that HWs needs to do better with the head & taillamps on these at $20+. I'm a Mercedes collector & I'm not happy that the 300SL has painted taillamps. The Mustang is hot & I will definitely grab a couple, they did a great job with it.

Elite 64 is an opportunity to introduce some niche products, such as the Toyota Chaser. Introduce lesser-known vehicles to diecast collectors, HW is the quintessential tastemaker in the diecast market, and Mattel should take full-advantage of this. In addition, maximize the licensing with companies like Mercedes (I would love to see a W140 S-Class) and Lexus (a proper LFA) while we have the opportunity. As a collector, I love the fact that Mattel has tapped into car-culture, yes to negative camber, yes to treaded tires, & yes to period appropriate After-market sponsers. Finally, Keep Elite 64 an Online-only product & keep pricing in the range of Mini-GT.

I'm ok with the idea of the Elite 64 line. It's like a continuation of the old 100% line. The Chaser didn't do it for me, it was too bland for me. The problem with the execution of the headlights is no that we can see the peg, it's that it's the only thing we can see. There's no detail behind the plastic lenses, just a flat surface. On the SEL 300 it's not an issue, since they are simple round headlights. Mustang looks cool, but they should spill some paint on that engine if it's going to be the special feature. For me it will be a case by case purchase.

I don’t think the price tag is a huge issue. Yes $20 can get you two mini GTs but I’d say you’re paying for the exclusivity and Hot Wheels branding (or well, hype) since these can sell out i.e. limited qty One major issue I have are the headlights and rear lights have those black dots on them. Could be more detailed as well by adding signal lights and reverse lights for the back just like how other premium brands do it. For those arguing that the cars are technically $27 because of the $7 shipping, don’t forget - you can order as many as you want so you can link up with your collector buddies to save on shipping!

Well, ordering as many as you can is actually the problem: an incentive for scalpers and crazy prices on secondary markets instead of allowing people who actually work at 9am PT to be on Mattel's website. Collectors who like the car for their collection have to spend $27. Also, I don't think hot wheels wants to compete for level of details with Mini GT/Tarmac/Inno64... Elite 64 should resemble the same feeling of super solid products to handle (which the competition doesn't have) with more details than the premium line. To me particularly important would be metal spoilers, high quality control, NO moving parts. The models they choose are less important IMAO: they will run out of stock anyways and people would buy the ones they like. Again, you need to consider the $27 price tag which is well beyond acceptable for what you are getting

I love that all of the wheels have been unique so far and that 2 of the 3 are completely new castings. As others have said it harkens back to the 100% line, which my most treasured childhood cars are part of. I agree there are bigger bangs for the buck that maybe one day Mattel will have to compete with. But for now, they are the big dogs with loads of demand (and marketing cost) so I'm sure it will continue. Wait for me!

I could add my voice to the chorus complaining about the price, but the two released have sold out within hours, which is likely the primary thing Mattel is looking at. Speaking directly about the Mustang, this feels like it could be the best example of what this line should be, taking a design and going all the way with "hotwheelsification". The only complaint I could have about the car itself would be that engine needing some tampo work to bring out the details. While I like the 'Elite64' concept, and even picked up the Chaser, this line feels like it was created in a vacuum without any attention paid to other products in the same price range.

I have two of the Chasers, did order the Mercedes and will try and get the Mustang. Just going off of the pictures of the Mercedes and Mustang, I like the Chaser the best of all three. That being said, the cars almost always look better in person. Will wait and see. If Mattel will put a cap on the price at $20 I think it will work. But if it goes more than that. I might stick with Mini-GT cars for this price point. The Mini GT cars are mostly under $20 and they offer a lot of variety as well as nice quality.

So my thoughts are Elite 64 is heading in the right direction with the mustang. Unique wheels for each car is really nice and I enjoy it. I think we could do spectraflame on some for the price. I'd also like to see more crisp builds like the chaser headlights look kind of cheap. I think they're heading in the right direction with the mustang and I will be buying a few. I think the community needs to be patient and let Hot Wheels develop this line over time and improve it because car culture started just 7 years ago but has improved quite a lot since.

Agreed, I think this is a pretty strong start in terms of creating the Elite 64 identity: closer to true 1:64 scale, bespoke wheels, and at least one "feature" for every vehicle. Given the success of the Chaser and 300 SL already, I imagine Mattel will be willing to let the design team take the future iterations of the line and make them even better

So far no one has pointed out the biggest flaw of the Chaser... is that it doesn't have any camber on the wheels, which is the most important aesthetic of a drift car. No manufacturer has produced a 1/64 with cambered wheels, it's always on a fixed axle which affects the realism of some cars (especially the drift cars). If the Hot Wheels Dream Team can engineer a method to mass produce models with free rolling cambered wheels, then they can stay a step ahead of the competition.

I don’t know how I feel about the price, premium green light, m2, and mini gt are way cheaper for the same type of details on the the car. The chaser wasn’t executed very well there was no color breaks in the rear tail lights, but yet if it can get better over time I’ll buy them

The paint/details have been ok so far, bit below normal premiums imo. I like the gimmic each car gets, the new wheels, and the overall sculpting, but I only plan on getting the Mustang and Aventador. The way they mount the head and tail lights on the Chaser is a bit distracting with how blank the rest of the piece is.

I like the concept, I have a feeling with the $20 price point it may not start off as a "I gotta get them all" kind of collection. This is going to be more of a "I love XYZ model of car so I'm going to drop the cash on this really nice one". I can appreciate the Chaser, don't really want it, I like the Mustang... I don't $20 like it. Once the release a 911, or an Audi R8 or if they do a 1970 Challenger similar to the way the Mustang turned out, I'll be smashing the buy button for those... A first gen Legacy turbo wagon I'd buy 10 of lol!

Re: mustang. I like the direction but I'd definitely change a few things. 1. The body kit is too wide and long in the rear for the stock wheel base. Make the rear tire larger or further back or lose a couple millimeters in the rear kit. 2. I respect blue but if you're gonna go that metallic just go bullitt green and call it a day. 3. If I'm buying a $20 1:64, every door on that thing better open. I can get a 1:24 Jada with all the same stuff for $20 and I can buy it at a store.

I think the model is perfect, put next to other models the price is on point. My only gripe is the packaging. I do not like the blister that is closely contoured to the model. It takes away from being able to see the details in the model when displayed in the packaging.

I believe that they should he around the $15 range. That way with their shipping costs they would be more around $20.

The Mustang was/is my favorite since the convention preview. Phil Rheilman design is fantastic. One of his best ever. I have and like the Chaser as well.

That Mustang looks fantastic. Although it looks like a race car, yet doesn’t have a race car livery, that seems odd. Also. For us in Canada, it’ll be right around $50 cdn by the time we get it shipped to us. That’s WAY too much for any 64th scale car.

I like what they are doing but for 20 dollars make it more interesting paint color and wheels combo, for example with the Mustang; if you are going to use blue, well use chrome wheels or white or even black. But make it attractive to the eye, almost like an RLC, and you will have the collectors hook.

So. M2 can make a multi piece model for under $10. This is a revamp of the 100% line with a new name. Folks will want numbered exclusivity even if it is 25000 or whatever. A number is better than no number. Price is a little high for what it is. Could be it needs to find it’s footing. Passed on the Chaser. Bought 2 of the Mercedes. Might get the Mustang. Don’t feel like I need to be a completionist on this line.

Initially I wasn't 100% sold on the Elite 64 line, but I got the Chaser to check it out and I'm surprised by how much I like it. I love the scale, the casting, the execution, the details, the colors and decos, etc. Very impressed. I'm not too intimidated by price but I can see where other people are coming from; maybe closer to $15 would be a better price point for many? That said, the M-B 300 SL sold out in under 24 hours, so... As for the Mustang, I'm very excited for it. At the end of the day, there are plenty of good 1:64 diecast stock Mustangs out there, I'm sure, but the heavy modifications and that beautifully detailed engine make this one truly unique. I think I'll be getting at least 1 each of everything in the Elite 64 range until I get something in my hands that I find I don't like. My message to Mattel: just keep a focus on quality and value, and I'll stay interested.

Lets get this straight, there is potential & I mean great potential for the elite 64 series.. but Mattel you got to take in advice and listen to your audience! Look at your competitors & study their models well because if you hit the nail in the coffin where your competitors are not, you will make a great amount of people happy who will pay for the price tag.

I really like the idea but god it hurts the bank. I live in Australia and it ends up costing be like $60 each. I bought extras to sell just so I could justify buying them for my own collection

I like the mustang but it could do with some stripes or flames, maybe some other decals, it just seems a bit bland just being blue.

Price is a bit high, but otherwise I like the mustang. I’m excited about 64!
