this is super helpful! I know that if you make 2 double circle skirts and gather them up to a waistband, it could create a really floaty skirt if you're using light fabrics and its very Marilyn Monroe since you can get all that volume and lift if the fabric is very flowy but not sheer (think of a lightweight silk with an organza lining for stability). I hope to use this tutorial for my gowns and sleeve flounces since I think it will make my designs look very fantasy and elegant.

I have a question, I'm making this full sized so 43 inches long, but when I fold the fabric (the fabric width is 60" wide) the fabric becomes really short and the pattern paper hangs of alot? Here's how: 1. Calculate the radius for the waist: The waistline is a small circle cut out of the center of the fabric. This gives the total radius of the circle. 3. Determine the diameter of the circle: Multiply the total radius by 2 to find the diameter of the full circle. 4. It's definitely not necessary for all skirt hems, it just gives structure to the hem when you have a softer fabric so it looks more floaty. It is generally used for more lux fabrics for special occasion/formal dresses
