Working with the entity known as Murmur has sure paid off the person behind this project. It's only natural that such a monstrous sound would emerge when being surrounded by the energy of such a spirit. His sigil is everywhere and whoever is behind this project does a great job at capturing its essence in his music. There's a undenying aura around Lamp. Usually it's hit or miss with newer occult bands for me. Sometimes I find many of them sounding insincere and just trying to copy eachother. But once in a while there's a hidden gem among them. Bands like Inferno, Israthoum, Grafvitnir, Funeral Rites, Deletere, Death Karma, Cult Of Fire, Avadryn and Lamp continue to keep the flame alive. Ho Drakon Ho Megas, Lamp.

For as "lo fi" or "raw" as it is they utilize a good deal of the stereo field to make the production interesting. There's a helluva lot of talent there and Lamp gets me excited that there is new ground to cover in this genre!

This ZK guy is a terrible bore, and really poor at conversing. He's been a tedious thorn in our comments for too long, harassing other commenters, and can't take a hint to tone it down, so away with him, at last. He is also wrong. KZbin doesn't have horrible compression, it streams in 320 kbp, which is as good as anything you will use your computer for. Besides, we use wav files, and 1080p maximum fidelity uploads. So the fact he thinks this recording is a compressed and degraded audio signal tells ytou all you need about his authority on what he speaks. and as a bonus, Lamp is a pretty novel combination of many themes and styles in BM - plus his own stamp.

Is there really such a thing as "raw occult black metal" if im not mistaken, black metals always been raw and of the occult and Satanism, self empowerment and occasionally the melancholic type of shit. I don't understand the whole subgenre shit anymore. Great post none the less tho, album was better then expected

Not all black metal is thematically focussed on those things, or has those sounds, even though one of the foundations is very much a difficult-sounding occult theme. Bathory is neither of those and he is the forefather of BM. Also, and far more importantly, I like to entertain myself with those genre names. Have a look around our other videos and see how excessive some are. Life would be dull if I just put ‘black metal’, ‘black metal’, ‘black metal’ every time!
