That's pretty cool I like it! Galaxy is one of my favorite backing colors, I use it in a lot of my videos. I also always keep a punty ready with a bit of galaxy on the end. Quick tip too - if you want to use a filter for your camera, get some of the paper glasses from Mountain Glass. You can cut them up and stick them to your camera, super simple!

I’m looking at your Etsy shop as a fellow glass blower. Why would you make everything so cheap price wise not a good move. That devalues your art and ruins the market for everyone else trying to sell their art for a decent wage. You could sell this for a lot more , along with why are you just including the hemp cord with purchase, you should be charging extra. Hemp cords take forever to braid I make them as well. Your prices do not reflect the time spent. Your prices barely cover glass material if you’re using boro. Cost of oxygen etc.

Thank you for sharing your perspective, I want to give an in-depth response here because I feel this is an interesting and nuanced conversation that other viewers may find valuable. First, I think it's important to mention that at the time of this comment, I am running a 15% off flash sale, so that may be skewing your perspective on my typical pricing just a bit. My prices are based on two main factors: 1. Market research including comparing my pricing to other similar Etsy sellers (which despite your claim that I am underselling, I am very in line with other sellers pricing) and research done in person at farmers markets to test different price points and the resulting price resistance vs. sales volume. 2. This math equation: Cost of goods + overhead costs + (time x hourly rate) Cost of goods includes all materials- gas, glass, hemp cord, shipping supplies, ect. Overhead costs includes all other operating costs such as Etsy/square/market fees, shipping fees, accounting software, etc. My time is calculated based on actually timing how long each item takes on the torch, timing how long hemp cords take, and doubling that time to account for all other business related activities. At the end of everything, I am able to pull approximately a 60% profit margin after all costs, which breaks down to about $40-$60/per hour of torch time or $20-$30/per hour after accounting for making hemp cords and other business related activities. While it may not be enough for everyone, I'm fortunate enough that for me this is a comfortable living wage. All that being said, my wage is dependent on demand for my work and I do plan to strategically raise my pricing when my sales volume hits capacity- I'm not quite there yet but I think this is coming very soon! All this to say- with all due respect to you and other artists and how they choose to operate- I am confident in my pricing structure and it works for me at this stage in the development of my art business.
