I love what she did to Carmen in this live version. It starts off all acoustical instruments and then gives it to the audience with the rest of the instruments. This is really beautiful. I love it.

this song speaks so much to me! I take Carmen as Cocaine and what it does to a person a long time use. I admit I have take cocaine because a guy who supported me was addicted to the drug and I was poor and homeless in NYC. I can relate to Lana's music so much
@-alyssa-marie-4 жыл бұрын
It can be about that! Most people believe it’s about the character Lolita bc in the book Humbert calls her that, and Lana has a song called Lolita
@ekaterinas69094 жыл бұрын
@@-alyssa-marie- it’s not about Lolita. It’s actually about Lana’s past (if you watch a lot of her interviews you’ll understand what I’m talking about) mixed with references to the character of the book “Carmen” by Prosper Mérimée about Gypsy who lived in Spain.
@-alyssa-marie-4 жыл бұрын
@@ekaterinas6909 she’s said it’s personal but it has many interpretations. Carmen could be about sin or the urge to drink, it’s also about a prostitute, it references Lolita and an old time actress Rita Hayworth etc. Such a good song!
@ekaterinas69094 жыл бұрын
@@-alyssa-marie- I think so too but could you please explain how does it reference to Lolita and Rita? Lolita was 12-13 y.o. (in the book, I didn’t watch the movie) and Lana sings about 17 y.o. girl (about herself mostly, I guess). So I don’t understand why people associate this song with Lolita? And I don’t know who Rita is, it’s interesting to learn new information and understand the meaning more deeply)
@-alyssa-marie-4 жыл бұрын
@@ekaterinas6909 Rita’s real middle name was Carmen and Lana has made references to her in the past, especially by her appearance and hair. And Lana referenced Lolita in the past, who also had the nickname of Carmen. Are you ready for Chemtrails?!

France and Germany don't really have a great relationship right now. Rather than possibly angering some fans she just sang it in Spanish.
@blessedwithbeautyandrage006 жыл бұрын
Hasan Sabir what... no hahaha I live in Germany and we would’ve never gotten angered over someone singing in french because of the relationship of the german government with the French one.. 🤷♀️😂 and also, Lana sang that Part of Carmen in Spanish in every country that she visited on her paradise tour in 2013 and she still does...
@ekaterinas69094 жыл бұрын
She sings it in Spanish, cause Carmen is the name of the character in Posper Mérimée’s book “Carmen” about Spanish Gypsy. Lana talks about her own past mixed with references to the book character.
