When I first started listening to Get drunk I considered it an anthem to alcohol. I’d listen to it drunk thinking I was in on the joke. Then I got sober and when I listened to it again I realized it’s the little voice in your head she’s referring to. The devil on your shoulder so to speak. Now I’m drunk again and there’s nothing more that I want than to not drink. But I no longer listen to this song as an anthem or a cautionary tale but instead as a biographical and very personal tale I’ll never fully understand
