In Brooklyn Baby, she was supposed to record with Lou Reed, but unfortunately he passed away shortly before the recording of the track. It wasn’t all plain sailing. One track, Brooklyn Baby, had been written with Lou Reed in mind: he’d wanted to work with Del Rey and so she’d flown over to New York to meet him. “I took the red eye, touched down at 7am…and two minutes later he died,” Lana says

My personal favorite is and always will be Brooklyn baby. This song makes me feel some type of way no other song can make me feel. The song was originally meant to be a collaboration with Lou Reed, who was born in Brooklyn. Tragically Reed passed away the same day they were scheduled to have a studio meeting. I’m this song she’s reminiscing about her days in Brooklyn, with her boyfriend, listening to her vintage, jazz vinyls. She’s saying how cool her boyfriend at that time(Barry James O’Neill)is because he’s in a band. I love it so so much❤

@@lmprettywhenicry I know, I don't mind it! Lana likes to have more simple, easy to learn, repetitive choruses, it helps balance out her complicated lyricism throughout the rest of the song, but I think Guns and Roses is just beyond in terms of its chorus. It drones on without much impact felt. I think that's why it's kind of a joke in the fandom. We also know there were so many amazing cuts from Ultraviolence, some feel it's a shame she added Guns and Roses when there were so many better options. Florida Kilos is so fun and Black Beauty is one of her most loved songs.

I really enjoyed this reaction as I have your other Lana ones. A few listening details that I think will hopefully put the record in perspective, and I wish people knew this before listening for the first time, but it doesn't usually work out like that ... But anyway. The actual Ultraviolence album is the first 11 tracks, and of those, the last song The Other Woman is sort of a coda, so you were spot on thinking that Old Money is the finale. Aside from that, you've still got four or five or six (depending on what you count as a record) albums by her, and she's apparently working on a new one at the moment, so you'll have your first experience of listening on release!
