this song is so beautiful. as someone with synesthesia, i hear music as colour. some songs are boring, bland, in shades of brown and gray. not lana. this song, to me, is a blend of rich, ocean blue and emerald green, with strands of gold. lana’s voice is a velvety, dark purple, bleeding through the colours and creating a beautiful mix of colour and sensation

I see voices as smoky colours floating in the air, and I have to avoid crowds or places with a lot of noise because all that colour makes it really hard to see. Concerts are also a no-go. For the most part though, it's lovely to watch the colours.

This is like the perfect fusion of tribute the 1920’s (the era “the great gatsby”) is set in but also sounds like 2010’s music and oddly enough, as we head into “the roaring 2020’s”, I wonder if this style of fusion of old 1920’s art, 1950’s Hollywood but 2020’s ethics plus morals will become the defining genre of our own. It’s called pastiche (look it up, it’s a communication studies term for the mixing of different eras of the past with the present and a perceived future).
