Having used the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker and loving it encouraged me to buy the Instant Vortex Plus. I was so disappointed with their manual, I thought I was going to return it until I saw your video. Thank you. You are an asset to Instant Pot and they should hire you as their consultant. I have followed your videos closely and have started to use the Vortex with great success. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Yes! I received this exact air fryer as a gift, and the friend who gave it to me said, oh, just read the manual, and you will know what to do. Completely the opposite! I was terrified that I was going to blow something up or poison myself, because of lack of specifics. These videos have set me straight about so many things. Thank you so much!

I have had the product for a few months now, and it is super simple to use kzbin.infoUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB I have perfected steak and chicken which is mainly what I have cooked in it. I do not use any oil at all, and the food comes out tasty every time. No issues, easy to use, easy to clean. I bought an accessory kit with extra things for it, and having a small metal rack in it definitely shows a little wear in the coating from sliding around a little. The coating could have been a little thicker. I have been pretty cautious with it, but its inevitable I suppose when you put something metal (cosori product) in it. Highly recommended product!

Great comment...i watched a few other ones including one from someone who owns a restaurant that basically just unboxed it and went at it....the chef chick was especially critical (possibly because of a mindset ) but you cant learn how to operate something in minutes. at least the other lady read the directions. There is a learning curve for each person

When I got mine (birthday) I was ready to return it and put out an APB to public about it being a fluke! But I checked out KZbin and found you! With no instructions ( I followed the registration and instructions) or manual besides the assembly it was nearly insulting! I have been able to do a rotisserie chicken, a little over four pounds and it was awesome! A larger one on the rack was great as well. Experimenting with potatoes and will do some dehydration as well (in a few days) while decorating for Christmas. Your videos are imperative for a vortex user THANK YOU!

It does take time to learn how to use it, but once getting the hang of it, it’s awesome. In the past, when we’ve gotten fries and they didn’t get all eaten, we’d pitch them. @@leslie-annepepin8927 I show you an upclose look at taking off the door in my very first video on the Vortex Plus. The key is to open it about half way and then pull up on the left side first then the right. Sometimes you need to jiggle it and the very first time you do it, you do have to use a little force, but then after that it should come off each time pretty easily.

AWESOME do's and don'ts video. I wouldn't have thought of many of those to watch out for. I have finally scooped one in Canada and it's supposed to be here tomorrow. Re-watched the other 2 videos I saw before to get familiar with it. I thought I had a dumb question when I wondered if we had to cut down the time and/or temp as opposed to a regular oven. To my surprise, you covered that as well. I do hope food brands start adding this info to their cooking directions on the pkgs. Many thanks for the link to the trays. I was looking for them yesterday and only found ones that are too big for this product. I know their manuals are horrible (I saw it from a link on your site update) and I think IP should be paying you to educate us. MANY THANKS!

I've never bought an air fryer before and with a family of four, with 2 teenagers, our meals are starting to get "large" -one thing I have not yet seen on any reviewer's channel is info on "how much you can cook" -how many wings, can you fit a normal sized frozen pizza, can we make enough fries for 4 people? that kind of thing.... I guess it could all be done in batches, using the regular oven to keep things warm while subsequent wings, fries, whatever are made -but really this is my only hesitation. Short of buying a full sized convection oven with an "air fry mode" I just don't know if this would be practical or "just another junk appliance collecting dust the back corner of our storage cupboard" Thoughts? Is this good for feeding families, or more for a college student in a dorm?

So if you have the Vortex Plus it's probably due to a small piece of Styrofoam that was left behind and burned. If not, it's just the leftover chemical wash from the factory. It should burn off after 1 or 2 test runs. If not, contact the company.

I am so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I have found that sometimes the touch buttons are finicky and it also depends on the temperature of your fingers crazy enough. They take a little while to respond but they usually are very very helpful and will send you a new one if they can't help you fix it.

@LanaUnderPressure 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris! Well, I am a stubborn geek so if there is something that "can't " be done, I will probably try and figure out a way that is can, lol. But I will say, foods with very wet batters haven't worked out only because there is no way to suspend the food without placing it on a tray. So I've had to make modifications. For example I made chicken tenders and usually I like the very wet double dredging fried chicken style batter. I had to make the wet batter a little thicker and then I added crushed corn flakes to the outside. I'll be posting that recipe soon to my blog.

Would you cook bacon, single layer, on one try and then closely put the other tray turned over on top of it? To reduce splatter? To cook without the bacon moving all over the place due to the air push?

Hi Lana! This is Connie Tomlinson, brand new owner of Instant Vortex plus. Question~ I tried making French fries in the basket last night but it wouldn't rotate. Do I need to press the rotate button? I assumed it was programmed to automatically rotate as in your demonstration of the hot dogs that you roasted. Please help! They were not very good, and rather soggy. THANKS!
@LanaUnderPressure
@LanaUnderPressure 4 жыл бұрын
Oh no! On roast, it will automatically rotate. But on air fry, you have to press rotate. How this helps. You can also just do fries on the rack and flip once.

You have to ensure the basket is locked in properly... you’ll notice the pegs on either end of the basket are square kinda like an Allen wrench. Align those pegs properly with the square hole where the black rotator is and it will lock in position... ensure you are keeping the red button slid to the right at the same time. You’ll know when the basket is locked properly.

Aww you're so sweet. Actually I was looking at air fryers and want to know how well they cook meats that have been marinaded or if that's a don't? Stuff like honey fried chicken?
@LanaUnderPressure
@LanaUnderPressure 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. They cook marinade meat very well. However, if you want a crispy outside, you do need to pat the marinade off. Like if you marinade wings. But for something like honey chicken, that would be great. You would want to make sure to watch it closely because the high heat will caramelize the sugar fast and over brown so I would use an empty rack on the top level to block the air flow to not over brown it.

Hi there. I am so glad I found your channel. I was hoping you could answer something for me. I need to replace my microwave which I only really use to reheat food, or steam veg. Would the reheat function on the vortes 7 in 1 work for that function? Hello from South Africa 👋
@LanaUnderPressure
@LanaUnderPressure 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! The reheat function is great to reheat certain foods that you want to crisp up. I know a lot of people who have replaced their microwave with a air fryer oven. However, in my opinion I wouldn't. A microwave cooked food very diffently.. an air fryer oven is not idea to heat up liquids like a microwave can ( cup of coffee, soup, etc.). You also can't cook with plastic or Tupperware or frozen food dinners or sides like you can in a microwave.

Hi Lana, i just watched you video with instructions, however you said it did not get hot to touch on the outside. Mine was so hot I couldn't touch it. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Sorry it took me a while to get to your comment, I went back to teaching full time. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I've been coking for a long time and I also worked on horse farms back in the day so it may just be my hands are not as sensitive to temp. Plus my family makes fun of me since i take showers hot enough to make skin melt, lol.

Can you advise how long and at what temperature you should cook chicken tenderloins and asparagus if you cook them at the same time on different shelves? Thanks!
@LanaUnderPressure
@LanaUnderPressure 4 жыл бұрын
I've actually haven't made asparagus yet. But it probably takes less time than the chicken. so you would add the asparagus after a little while. just don't place the tray on the very top level.

Hi Lana, I enjoyed your video, very informative. Could tell me how the Instant vortex does fries? Are they crispy? Does it dry them out? Thanks.
@LanaUnderPressure
@LanaUnderPressure 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! I am so glad you like my videos and find them helpful. I love doing french fries in the basket. The best thing to get crispy fries is to soak them in salt water for about 15 mins then pat dry and then toss with olive oil and salt (or whatever seasoning you like). Air Fry at 400. You can also do them on the tray just make sure to flip them. It doesn;t dry them out at all. That was one thing I hated about the basket style air fryer I bought years ago and then returned in 2 days. :)

How about baking an over 4 lb chicken using the Spatchcock method starting it skin-side down? Would a large chicken fit in the baking tray?
@LanaUnderPressure
@LanaUnderPressure 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Spatchcock is my go to method for the oven. I think it would be too big to fit flat in this oven.

Hi Lana, I'm just now about to buy an oven air fryer. I have a basket type air fryer but it's really too small for us so I decided to get the vortex. I'm hesitating though because the trays are non stick. I was hoping for stainless steel. Do you think it's a non issue though? I'm considering the Oster air fryer oven too only because of the stainless steel trays. I'm really torn because I'm a fan of my Instant Pot. Hoping for your advice!

Another tip is to wipe the cover of the light regularly as well. That tends to get grease and stain buildup over time and it won't be as bright in the oven after a while. 😉

The first time using your vortex did you experience a burning plastic smell?
@LanaUnderPressure
@LanaUnderPressure 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I did not, but that smell is common. It's from left over residue from the factory that is on the heating elements. If you run it on high for 15 mins it will burn off and be fine.

@LanaUnderPressure
@LanaUnderPressure 4 жыл бұрын
Hi. It does toast bread. I find though that it's not the best because it can dry it out since you can't turn off the fan. But I find if you set it for air fry, 400, and put it in without preheating for 3 mins it comes out good.

Is this cool enough to the touch to embed in a cabinet?

Hi. No, it needs 5 inches all around clearance. I would not suggest embedding it in a cabinet unless you intend to pull it out to use it or you have the required space allowance.
