The problem is not with him doping. For Lance Armstrong, during the 7-year window when he won every Tour de France, 87% of the top-10 finishers (61 of 70) were confirmed dopers or suspected of doping. The problem is with how he attacked people, the way he treated people. Thats what he did wrong.

The people defending him are probably unaware of his attempts to ruin people's lives. He went on screwing with people's live to mask who he really was until he was completely exposed, and had nowhere else to run. I grew up a huge fan, watched all of his tour wins, read his autobiography......but unfortunately he's a vile person. One of his biggest talents is convincing people he is a genuine and good person. @Lee Shackelford you made this fact up. But I'll give you some names - Carlos Sastre has never been associated with or to any doping scandal. Cadel Evans too. David Montcoutie was known to have not doped on his team as he has a fear of needles. There's 3 top contendors alone. Armstrong even said Sastre winning a TdF was the impetus for his comeback, as he was so scathing of Sastre's ability he felt he could still beat him... when actually Sastre winning the Tour was a sign it might finally be heading towards being clean, even if that meant the times up the mountains were slower than before. But also with Lance, its not even about the doping. Its about everything else. Ivan Basso doped, Alejandro Valverde doped, Alberto Contador probably doped - none of them publicly shamed and ruined the careers and lives of multiple people, blackmailed the governing body and intimidated a legal witness.

Tyler Hamilton's book gives a pretty good overview of those times, the need to use performance enhancing substances and techniques to compete at top levels, and what appeared to me to be a pretty unbiased picture of Armstrong and other top echelon bike racers and those they rode for. Hamilton for the most part agrees with Armstrong when he says "we did what we had to do", and it wasn't simple. Not by a long shot! He quotes Armstrong describing top racers as "stone-cold killers" when it came to team politics, and Armstrong seemed to fall into that category. As is pretty common, maybe it's a good idea not to learn too much about your heros. They may not remain your heros. That is one painful sport.

Question I wish Tirico had asked..."Do you still have any relationships with any of your former Postal team mates, and what is the nature of those relationships?"

George Hincapie and him are still friends as well as Johan Bruyneel but I can't say for sure about others. I think him and Tyler Hamilton might be a bit rocky.

Noel Kerns Agreed, and the shallow-minded puppet master Bruyneel and squinty Thom Weisel still lurk unpunished.

I love Lance.. He doesn't win without it, everyone else was doping.. He and his team worked hard, had great equipment, awesome overall Team. I don't know, we all get caught up to win, get better, defend self.. They picked on him and only him because of his meanness. But he still worked harder than any bicyclist in the tour.. They should have never striped him of the wins, but change the sport and better testing....

I hated Barry Bonds Mark McGuire for what they did to baseball but seeing Lance Armstrong just make my blood boiler what he did cycle and for being all round bad guy.
