This train was not a super express. It slowed down at some points along between Junction Boulevard and 61 Street-Woodside. That train did run special express, making fewer stops. It made reasonable time arriving at gap stations. I wish I was on that train from the first car. This show was a nice recoding.
@joshuajimenez68932 жыл бұрын
MTA trains are not allowed to bypass stations at full speeds. Trains like the 2, 6, J and Z trains, when they do a skip stop service pattern trains must slow down at approaching stations and once cleared then they can proceed to go full speed. I honestly believe it’s because of public safety especially since it’s so common for people to just jump on a train and get struck and worse, because of suicide.
@captainkeyboard10072 жыл бұрын
@@joshuajimenez6893 I know that trains passing stations at their platforms must go no more than 10 miles per hour. Usually, there are people on the station platforms of the stations being skipped. Such trains may be considered as express trains, instead of super express trains. You just typed to a railroad buff.

This isn't a super express, it's just a regularly scheduled express to Manhattan 34th Street. The only time there was a Super Express was during the 1694 World's Fair. The train had limited stops to pickup passengers starting from 7th Avenue/Times Square. Then it stopped at GC/42nd (I believe it skipped 5th Ave), then through the tunnel stopping only at Queens Plaza. Then it was NON-Stop to the Willits Point Blvd/WF station. It started running after the morning rush hour during the week and all day Saturday and Sunday. It was pretty fast except for when there'd be a Yellow over S along the way.

Definitely not in the speed. It seems just a regular subway train that skips a few stations via a third track or a track on another level. Those trains only gain a few minutes to regular subway trains. They should improve the speed and therefore the infrastructure, they take the curves at walking pace. The infrastructure looks deplorable for any city. If the intention is to nudge people out of the car and into the subway, they’re failing miserably. If the intention is to offer people just transport period, they succeeded. But you could be building houses and apartment complexes at all the carparks downtown, if you could get people out of the car and into the subway. That would ease the house shortages a bit. Build big P&R garages or terrains at the terminus stations of the subway lines (in my country they call them transferia), if necessary extend the subway lines. Make the parking facilities free for charge and guarded 24hrs, but only for people/commuters that buy a subway year ticket. The investment will pay itself back in no time. But first you’ll have to invest with public money, tax payers money. And that’s the big problem in America.
